Description

Enjoy something for everyone with cycling in Dalby Forest, the Heritage Coast or even a day out in the city of York.

Dating back to 1890, this semi-detached holiday cottage is situated down a quiet lane in one of the prettiest villages in North Yorkshire. A short stroll from the centre, it is ideal for exploring the Moors and the Heritage coastline, as well as the city of York. Nearby are Kirkby Moorside, Helmsley, and Pickering where you can board a steam train and take a journey through countryside. Visit Dalby Forest for cycling, with tracks to suit all ages. Scarborough, 20 miles, has beaches. Whitby is 18 miles. The cottage is in the most perfect location as there is so much within walking distance. We enjoyed staying in Squirrel Cottage. Unfortunately, the beds and the sofas weren't very comfortable and there was a bit of a funny damp smell when we got there. Also, there wasn't as much outside space as we expected. But we would stay there again if the bed and sofas were replaced.

Super cottage, well equipped, clean and tidy. Loved the roll top bath, very luxurious. Had everything we needed and a very good location. No parking directly outside but we found a space just up the road without any problems. Would definitely recommend.

The cottage was ideally located for our needs - close to good amenities in Thornton and Pickering and centrally situated to a host of attractive days out at the coast and in the country.

A spacious cottage in the heart of Thornton le Dale. Beds comfortable, kitchen and utility room well equipped. Only negative is a could be a little more TLC in housekeeping and courtyard area. House is generally clean however needs a good spring clean. Courtyard has an overgrown tree from a neighbour needs cutback and general weeding/tidy up to make it more appealing. Would have been nice to sit out or have a BBQ. Had a lovely stay here and lots to do in surrounding areas for all ages.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner: Thank you for your review. I am sorry on this occasion you found the outside area was overgrown. Our gardener is due to attend property this week, so any over hanging trees will be removed and weeding will be done. The house is regularly cleaned but we will ensure that a deep clean is under taken in advanced for the summer season.
