Description

This detached boathouse is in a superb, secluded position over the water on the shore of Lake Windermere.

These detached (Spout Crag, ref 27784) ) and semi-detached (Lakeshore, ref 27785)) boathouses are in a superb, secluded position over the water on the shore of Lake Windermere. The boathouses are not only an ideal romantic hideaway and walking base, they also provide the ultimate holiday location for enjoying sailing or water sports on Windermere with direct access to the lake, small pier and boat mooring facilities with each property (storage under the boathouse 8m x 2.5m) with a boardwalk at the side. Both holiday properties are tastefully and comfortably furnished throughout, they boast a light and airy living room opening on to a large sun terrace overlooking the lake and fells. A host of Lakeland attractions can be found nearby, including many of Wordsworth’s inspirational locations - his home, Dove Cottage, is open to the public all year. Grizedale Forest, with its Go Ape high wire adventure course, Grasmere and Ambleside are all close by. Visit Hilltop Farm near Sawrey, where Beatrix Potter wrote many of her stories, or take a trip to Hawkshead where there is a gallery dedicated to her original drawings and illustrations. Take a trip across Lake Windermere on the leisurely steamer, which connects with the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Steam Railway. Sizergh Castle, Holker Hall and Levens Hall all within easy reach. The South Lakes Wild Animal Park at Dalton is a wonderful day out for all the family, as is the Aquarium of the Lakes at Lakeside and Muncaster Castle with its extensive gardens. Excellent walks locally with stunning views, as well as cycling and pony-trekking. Bowness, with its wealth of shops, pubs and restaurants, is just 11/2 miles away.

An amazing location (especially for a complete chill out which is why I went) and overall a high spec property that was let down by a few easy to remedy negatives. Replacing the cheap bucks fizz, 99p biscuits and individual UHT milk pots with a bottle of prosecco, better quality locally made biscuits and real milk would have made the 'welcome' pack welcoming. Also the folder for what to do was really tired and VERY out of date - it needs updating. Couldn't get BBC on the TV (not a major problem) but would be helpful to have advised taking DVDs, games (the ones at the property need to be thrown out - lots missing!) and CDs with you in the property information.

Beautiful view over lake Windermere. No local amenities. You have to drive to nearest town. No internet. However it is so relaxing looking over lake. And the drive to Windermere is easy

This was our third time at Spout Crag, the condition etc. never seems to deteriorate. Our only concern ( apart from the weather ! ) was the steps down to the boathouse, made it difficult to carry our dinghy down and back up. But otherwise a wonderful place !

Beautiful location - so peaceful. House was well equipped and comfortable. Not much in the way of outside space with the house, but with the balcony doors wide open it feels like you're outside. I would definitely go back.

Stayed here 3 years in a row and dont plan to stop, love it, my son loves it and its perfect to get away after a busy December. However, in this day in age you have to move with the times and to keep up with other such boathouses I feel an optional portable WiFi box would suit modern families, if you dont need it simply dont turn it on. Beds need an upgrade as the two singles have springs poking through and the hoover is surely on its last year. Fresh cutlery too. All ive said on the improvements dont take away why I go and will continue to go, its peacefully majecstic and I love it. See you Jan 2018
