Southwood lodge is a clean , comfortable, fabulous cottage to stay in. We were made to feel very welcome - wine, cripspie cakes and a chocolate halloween treasure hunt for the kids. Not to mention a lovely chocolate cake in the form of a spider for actual Halloween! Kitchen is well equipped and bathrooms and bedrooms had everything we needed. There were games and dvd's for us to use and a wifi code for our tablets. We will definitely stay here again as we didn't see half the things we planned to. Beamish museum is a must! It was lovely to come home after a day's exploring to such a nice place. Thank you, and see you again.

We had a lovely holiday in this spacious, quiet and comfortable cottage. We did not see the owners but they had provided wine and various good food including a home made chocolate cake.

Second visit to this cottage, extremely comfortable and well set up. Cleanliness second to no other cottage we have visited. It is an ideal location to access both north east England and southern Scotland. Plenty to see and discover in the area.

From the moment you see the Lodge, you know you've made an excellent choice. The surroundings, the location, the building itself are all so wonderful. Everything you could wish for is there- a real home from home. Can't rate it high enough. Having stayed in many Country Cottages over the years, this is the best yet

A delightful cottage, well above the average. It's nicely furnished, spacious, well-equipped, in a beautiful setting. The owners have gone that extra mile to distinguish this property from many others with thoughtful little touches which make it all the more welcoming and comfortable. It's a great location, too, for exploring the Tyne Valley, North Durham and Northumberland. Happy to recommend it.

This was our fourth or fifth visit. The owner is an excellent host, who provides a truly lovely welcome. It is rare indeed when you can genuinely say that your abode for a week in your life is a truly home-from-home experience. As ever, Southwood Lodge excels in every way. We would never choose to go elsewhere on our fairly frequent visits to my native Northumberland.
