Aptly named, Cedar Lodge is a fine family holiday home that features a charming living room with a homely ambience and wooden walls made of cedar.

In the ancient capital of Wessex and central Somerset, The Coach House and Cedar Lodge both accommodate four guests, and adjoin the owners’ Grade II listed mansion. Ideally situated for exploring this delightful county, the centre of Somerton is easily accessible on foot. There’s much to enjoy in all directions; for guests with a thirst for knowledge there’s the Fleet Air Arm Museum or the popular historic Haynes Motor Car Museum, with its vast collection of classic cars. Within easy driving distance is Clarks Village, the famous Cheddar Gorge and Caves, Wookey Hole and Caves, the enchanting Glastonbury Tor and of course the city of Wells’ stunning cathedral with its Bishops Palace.

For a relaxing day out or a trip back in time, maybe the West Somerset Steam Railway will fit the bill, as it chugs its way through some of the most delightful countryside in Somerset. Along with many historic houses, such as Montacute House and Gardens and Forde Abbey and Gardens to name a few, you will certainly not be short of attractions to visit. Further afield, the spa city of Bath features prominent Roman baths, museums and shops, and if you’re heading southward into Dorset, there are a number of traditional seaside resorts scattered along the Jurassic Coast, such as Lyme Regis, West Bay and Weymouth.

For those who’d rather stay a little closer to home, there are many picturesque country walks, golf nearby, fishing and some warm and welcoming village pubs to wine and dine in. Beach 25 miles. Shop, pub and restaurant ½ mile.

Perfect location, had a great stay - we were left alone for the week, which suited as the purpose of the visit was to get away from normality and get important work completed. Temperature of water in one of the bathrooms (the rear one) was somewhat tepid but the other bathroom was fine. Not quite sure how this was, but it did not ruin our stay as we had the alternative to use. All in all, a great week away and would recommend to others. A beautiful conversion in a wonderful location all said :-)

Cedar Lodge is one of the nicest places I have stayed and loved the outside as much as the inside. Plenty of garden to exercise my dogs and play with the owners dogs. The lodge has everything you could possibly need - a true home-from-home. The decor and furnishings suit the lodge perfectly. Would definitely stay here again and recommend to family and friends.

A quirky, well equipped cottage in a quiet rural location. Friendly and very helpful owners. Excellent outlet shopping village at Street in nearby Glastonbury.

A spacious open planned cottage in gorgeous surroundings. Very clean and up to date especially the 2 ensuites and the 2 bedrooms. Wi Fi a bit of a hit and miss but if you are not down loading videos etc, it works just fine. Set in the lovely village (town) of Somerton (The royal seat of ancient Wessex) its a charming location to discover the surrounding area.

We really were delighted to find this holiday let. It had everything we could wish for except handrails on the bath/shower which was due to us being a bit doddery. The owner gave the impression she would give this some thought. The whole experience was more than we expected with the baby lambs, horses etc. We also liked the owners which is always nice.
