Light floods into this beautifully designed, eco-friendly house which has an L-shaped balcony and lies in an area of historical interest.

Situated down a quiet lane just 150 yards from the sea, this architecturally designed, detached, eco-friendly house is an imposing building with a curved roof, huge glass panels to the front, sweeping solid oak and glass staircase and a magnificent L-shaped balcony with sea views. Beautifully appointed inside, it enjoys exceptional space and natural light (‘Solas’ – Irish for light). There are numerous local activities such as shore fishing, golf, scenic drives (Bannow Drive) and horse riding. The ferry ports at Rosslare (Wexford) and Dublin are within easy reach as are both Cork and Dublin airports. Shop, pub and restaurant 3 miles.

Approximate distance to Cork Airport is 179 km.

Delightful property though the description of a ramp from ground to first floor was misleading. This caused unacceptable difficulties as one of our party was a wheelchair-user. The ramp in existence was instead from the first floor to the car-park on the same level, necessitating a car transport out of the first floor car-park, out of the gate down the lane and into the second gate 50 metres away, through a third gate into the bottom car-park where the sleeping accommodation was on the ground floor. This caused considerable upset and distress several times each day (after rising and again going to bed) as the description clearly stated there was a ramp from the first floor to the ground floor

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; I am very sorry for the inconvenience your family experienced in using a wheelchair around the property. You are quite right that the description was not accurate and I have rectified that with the Agency. I am glad that you were able to enjoy the holiday and the local area in spite of the extra effort required.

Beautifully situated, spacious modern property. Isolated but that is what we wanted. Ideal for a dog. Guest information badly needs updating. A welcome note would have been nice. Several minor maintenance problems that need addressing. However thoroughly enjoyed a relaxing holiday.

Wonderful place to stay,so spacious in large grounds.Had all the equipment needed and 3 toilets/showers.You can easily stock up at a large cheap supermarket in Wellington Bridge called Wallaces and there is even a Tesco not too far away where the famine ship is situated. There is an excellent fish and chip shop in the next village. The beach is just a few yards away.Guests must go to Enniscorthy and experience the 1798 rebellion experience and visit Vinegar Hill where the battle took place. This battle has been airbrushed out of U.K.history books and illuminating to experience it from the Irish point of view. The exhibition is moving/closing later this year so be quick.Cheaper joint tickets with the castle available. For kids, great beach at Curracloe.Directions to find the place quite poor.Needs to be simple.e.g.Drive to Wellington Bridge turn left after the supermarket then turn right at the road junction.Turn left at the brown sign Blackhall Strand beach and instead of going round a 90 degree bend to the left go straight on,grass in road centre and Solas is just on the right .Mention of Loftusacre is totally confusing .because even the locals have never heard of it.Car is essential, better to take your own on the ferry than hire because you can take the kitchen sink.

Beautiful location and a unique designed cottage, cleanliness let it down, particularly bathrooms and had to clean them before either of us were comfortable using them. Would not stay again with this standard of cleaning, but if it was improved would reconsider.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; I do apologise that the standard of cleanliness was not good enough, we normally get compliments on how clean and fresh the house is rather than complaints and so this is a very embarrassing oversight on our part. If any guest has a problem with the house then we have a manager just 10 minutes away who can sort out most issues - and a proper clean is definitely in her remit - you certainly should not have to start your holiday by cleaning. Her number is in the house information for any future problems.
