A deli ghtful cottage in a wonderful setting. Everything we needed for 7 adults ,4 under 4's and a dog supplied. Settees a bit saggy but with wood burner alight in evening very cosy. We couldn't have bettered the accommodation.

This is a lovely, quirky house in a fabulous location. It has many of the original features of a long house, so beware of uneven steps. However, these things do make the property unique. There is plenty of seating space for a large group to sit together In comfort, and a massive field for the dogs to play in safely. Dogs are positively welcomed with blankets to put on the sofas for the "coach potatoes"! A well equipped kitchen with hundreds of mugs and glasses. A big Aga with four ovens, ideal for making home made pizza!

A lovely deceptively spacious house with great character. It is suitable for a large family of 10. The stairs are a challenge, but with care are okay for all. Isabelle, our landlady, was very attentive when there was the threat of a water shortage and arranged an immediate replenishment and then installed and had filled a 10,000 litre extra tank. It is a well appointed holiday home with lovely views and we enjoyed staying there.

although we had a great time and would stay again, we felt that it was very expensive for the quality on the property. It was the addional things that let it down ie the dvd player didn't work,. the washing machine was so tiny for a 5 bed property, the door on the tumble dryer didn't work, there was no BBq, the outside seats were old and worn out. It said there was additional items we could buy outside the back door, we couldn't open the back door and looking from the side there wasn't anything there. We didn't like the fact that the property next to it used the same access, we did get on with them but they had dogs as well and caused a few problems. We do understand what it is like to rent as we rent a cottage in the new forest, but for them to charge the amount they did we did expect higher quality of the property. all that said we loved the location and views and would stay again . we did also keep losing power at the cottage, but relaise this is outside the owners control

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; It has been an astonishing three years since we restored this 400 year old Devon longhouse to become an extremely popular holiday let for large family groups. So it comes as a great disappointment to me and my team that these guests did not share the same high level of pleasure and satisfaction. In response to their comments, it is such a pity that these guests only reported the electricity outages, which were a problem throughout the local area, and did not inform us of their other concerns such as the dryer and DVD. These can often be quickly resolved particularly if it is just a case of the guests not being familiar with the equipment. It is true that the washer and dryer are not full size because of their situation but this has not been an issue previously and if it had been raised as a concern then the industrial size laundry room would have been made available. The steamer chairs are in good working order albeit with a weathered look in keeping with the remains of the old, granite shippon on which they are placed and there is a BBQ available which is often put to good use by many of our visitors. Overall, I much regret that, on this occasion, a failure to communicate had an adverse effect on the guests' enjoyment of their holiday. Previously the manager has usually called in during the first few days to make sure all is well and this will now happen at the start of every visit.
