We had a comfortable, lovely stay at Sleights Cottage. Rainton was a nice village, with two pubs and a very small shop. The meal we had at The Bay Horse, which is a short walk away, was lovely (comfort food for a fiver on Thursdays!). However, a short part of the walk to get there is down a country road without a path. The cottage is a good base for exploring lots of lovely places in Yorkshire. Beds were very comfortable, and the windows sufficiently blocked out the noise of the main road. There was ample parking too. Debby was on hand next door if we needed anything and offered milk when we arrived in case we wanted a cuppa.

My son and I received a warm welcome when we arrived early evening. The cottage suited us fine for exploring the multitude of places in close proximity. My son enjoyed being outdoors playing with other children visiting the neighbouring properties. Quiet location even though it's just a stone's throw from the A1, no disruption from traffic noise. Quite a few tractors and a combine but that ok great it's summer and the countryside after all! Wished we could have stayed another week, if hurt my back during the journey so hardly scratched the surface with regards to tourist attractions. Parking a bonus next to the cottage.
