We had a lovely few days at Skellater Cottage with our dog. It's a great cottage in a wonderful location with long walks straight from the gate. There is a well stocked shop nearby. The cottage is spacious for a couple or small family and it's very well equipped and kept. We had a really plentiful supply of logs for the fire which was great as it was still very cold when we visited. The bed was soft which we thought might be a problem at first but it wasn't. It's a perfect place to get away and relax. The only problem we had was with the shower in which we found it hard to regulate the temperature. Overall it's highly recommended.

A little too far away from local services such as a pub, a shop etc but that's a personal opinion. inadequate heating - upright fan heater and a log burning stove. Stove too small to keep running for any length of time without attention. damp - render coming off the rear wall poor shower, very finicky to control 1 bath of hot water is about your lot kitchen inadequately equipped Bed was extremely uncomfortable, has got to be my worst weeks sleep. This place needs more investment and care in the property. it would appear it's been put on the market with minimal investment to make a quick buck.

Response on behalf of the owner; We are sorry to read your review. We strive to provide accommodation that is comfortable and of a high standard. We are finding it difficult to respond as guests who stayed the week prior to you left very positive comments in our visitor’s book. In fact, all previous reviews & comments attest to a positive experience at our cottage. We have many returning guests; in fact, our guests this week are on their 3rd visit. However, we would always take any constructive criticism on board and we are sorry that your stay did not meet your expectations.
