Welcome Cottages

Lakeside, seaside, countryside, hillside...wherever you can picture your perfect cottage, you'll find it with Welcome Cottages!

Description

Set in an AONB, this is the perfect family holiday base with many attractions close by.

These semi-detached holiday properties (refs 29887, 29895, 29896 and W43461) reside in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in the glorious Sussex countryside and once part of Vigoes Dairy Farm until the end of the 20th century. Set back from the road, each property has its own individual terrace with furniture, and to the rear of the buildings is a shared grassed area, beyond which is a paddock, an ideal place in which to let off steam, kick a ball around or have a leisurely picnic. Spot deer, the occasional buzzard or the very rare short toed eagle! Walks and cycle routes beckon from the doorstep. See the beautiful Sheffield Park Gardens (National Trust) where, in the 1700s, Capability Brown was commissioned to landscape the gardens. A glorious feast of red and golds in the autumn and where the national collection of Ghent azaleas can be seen in their full glory in the spring alongside the bluebells. In 1876 the third Earl of Sheffield laid out a cricket pitch where the first ever match against Australia was played in 1884! The Bluebell Railway offers an opportunity to stroll amongst the locomotives in the engine sheds and perhaps spot ‘Stepney’ who appears in the Thomas the Tank Engine books, and of course take a train journey. Stroll through the Ashdown Forest which covers approximately 10 square miles and in fact is not all forest but largely heathland, where cattle and sheep also freely graze for part of the year. It is also famous for the Winnie The Pooh Stories written by AA Milne who lived on the northern edge of the forest with his son Christopher Robin. Attend Glyndebourne, visit the county town of Lewes with its museum, antique shops and brewery, or head to the coast at Brighton or Eastbourne across the South Downs. Horse riding available locally. Good rail connections to London from Haywards Heath for further sightseeing opportunities. Shop 1 mile, pub 1½ miles and restaurant 250 yards.

Ground floor: Living room with double sofa bed (for alternative sleeping)/dining room/kitchen. Bathroom with shower attachment and toilet. First floor: 2 bedrooms: 1 double, 1 twin. Shower room with toilet.

Oil central heating included. Microwave.

Great for families and couples. Well equipped, immaculately clean accommodation. Lots of good quality toys and games for children. A real gem. Plenty to see and do in the area. Will definitely return.

My daughter, two grandchildren and I thoroughly enjoyed our holiday at Silver cottage, the cottage was lovely, it was very clean and had everything you would need. The children had use of toys from the shed in the garden and combined with the play area next door had a wonderful time. I would recommend visiting Trading Boundaries next door to the cottages, we had a lovely lunch there several times and the little boutique shops and courtyard were an added bonus!

Set in amongst the leafy lanes of Sussex this holiday home had everything we needed and was comfortable and clean with a nice welcome pack provided. We noticed some traffic noise in the morning. This was outweighed by the owl sounds at night! I always take some of my own kitchen equipment, knives etc but did not need them. Signals not good for mobiles but this can be overcome by the Wi-Fi connection. Saw a film in the cinema in Uckfield. Trading Boundaries next door was an interesting place to eat and see some good art. The only reason we are unlikely to stay there again is that we never do return to the same place.

Great value for money, would certainly recommend if you want to stay in the area. The shared garden at the back was great for children, along with the playground next door. The boutique shops were rather good for Mums too! Clean, efficient layout.

The cottage was comfortable, clean and had a all the equipment needed for an excellent holiday. Silver is facing the car park area and at times the cars driving in and out felt a little intrusive as other could see out front room from their cars. At night you can hear the road from the main bedroom but we were used to this so it was not a huge problem. It was better that the children had the back room. The walls were quite thin and at times we could hear the neighbours from the bedroom. Other than that the holiday we had with the children was excellent. We used the back garden, toys provided and the access to the field was just a great way of getting out with the kids for a stroll and really feeling part of the countryside. The owners were very welcoming with a great welcome pack-cakes, milk, biscuits and other items ready for us to feel right at home. They were very accommodating and assisted us with any extra items we asked for. The cottage was next door to a venue with boutique type shops right next door so you could just stroll through for a wonder which was nice. It was also just 3 minutes drive to the Bluebell railway and the great walks and parks in the area was amazing. Wellies highly recommended as it was very muddy in the back fields but the owners even had welly racks at the front. Excellent Holiday thank you to the owners and we will be back soon.
