A cosy, romantic retreat with a woodburner for the cooler nights, and lawned garden for al-fresco dining in the summer.

Shrimp Cottage is a sweet little holiday retreat for those wishing to get away from the stresses and strains of every day life and relax in cosy coastal comfort. Pronounced by the locals as ’Stew-key’, Stiffkey is a picturesque village offering access across salt marshes to the sea and is famous for Stiffkey Blues, which are plump and tasty cockles. Just along the coast lies the quaint seaside town of Wells-next-the-Sea, with its narrow gauge railway, pretty quayside and mix of artisan and traditional seaside shops. A scenic coastal drive away lies Blakeney, where you can wile some time away in the ancient pursuit of crabbing and Morston, where you can take a boat trip to see the seals. Further afield lie the bustling seaside town of Sheringham, with its shingle beach and North Norfolk Steam Railway and Cromer, with its famous pier and promenade. If you would like to potter and admire some independent shops and cafes, head to the popular town of Holt, or, for all the fun of the fair, head to Hunstanton with its endless beach. History buffs will be spoilt for choice with Bickling Hall, Houghton Hall, Holkham Hall and the Sandringham Estate within easy reach. And if you’re visiting at Christmas don’t forget to book for The Thursford Christmas Spectacular, which is also within easy reach. With bracing walks and bird watching literally on the doorstep, guests are spoilt for choice when it comes to deciding where to visit next. Beach 1/2 mile. Shop 100 yards, pub and restaurant 50 yards.

Ground floor: Living room with single sofa bed/kitchen with dining area and tiled floor. First floor: 1 double (5ft) bedroom. Bathroom with shower over bath and toilet.

Shrimp Cottage was really delightful. Cosy and welcoming excellently located near pub and short walk to coast. We loved using the log burner. Kitchen area compact but all we needed was there. Bathroom very cosy too which was good when we got home soaked from a walk. Would definitely go back again.

Shrimp Cottage is bijou , tidy and adequately equipped for a couple to enjoy a really good break, enhanced by being part of a small terrace with pretty front gardens. The Red Lion and good food is only a few yards down the road and almost opposite the terrace is a small walk through a little wooded track with lots of woodland birds in January and scores of ducks and waders on the marsh. Wells next the sea only a short drive down the coast.

A lovely cottage within reach of many interesting places to visit. Good local shop and great pub serving tasty food. Only slight criticism is the car park where one large car can cause problems (and did).
