Beautiful location and cottage. A car is a must if you wish to explore the beaches and surrounding attractions. Lovely log burner, which we used even in the height of summer! Although you pay for the electricity, a little went a long way. We had plenty of pound coins left to use for parking at the beach fronts. You must head to Lynton to Valley of the Rocks if you are over in North Devon. We toured from Croyde to Lynton and the cottage was not to far from anywhere. Overall a great stay and would stay again. Thanks very much! PS. I loved the horses in the field as well as a very friendly dog that came to say hello in the garden.

Cottage was lovely BUT the shower was more like a dribble and the hot tub wasn't working properly at all. It either needs a thorough clean and service or simply replacing. Made terrible noises, hardly any jets working and the head tests wouldn't stay on. Lovely setting though and lovely clean cottage.

We had a lovely break, weather was brilliant for mid April, the cottage was ideal for us really quiet and peaceful. The dogs loved it and plenty of walks available. Hot tub was a bonus it was just difficult having to get out of it in to the cold again. We had an issue with the T.V as we could only get one channel and couldn't change the volume. We rang the owner and she popped in to give us some batteries for the remote, however it continued to play up and I think it really needs a good service or a T.V engineer to take a look. Overall the stay was perfect and the owner was kind enough to lend us towels for our stay as I realised we had left them behind by mistake. We would come back again one day.

Property was very nice. Everything that was expected. Very nice cut off location. Only Critism was the to was the TV was temperamental.

On arrival the cottage was freezing cold and smelt damp. Annoying that the electricity was metered and towels not provided. Feel they should have been included for what we paid. The cottage warmed up during our stay so did feel cosy then. The furnishings and decor were very tasteful but the TV was minuscule and we came across slugs in the kitchen a couple of times. The location is pretty but would be far nicer in summer. Despite the garden being dog-proof, our terrier managed to jump the fence and escape! The jacuzzi was lovely but unfortunately we hardly got to use it due to the rain. Was a little disappointed that the owners did not pop in with a bottle to wish us Happy New Year.

Can't say anything but amazing things about Shortcombe Cottage!! The location was perfect, about 10 minutes from illfacombe, but it was completely secluded and private. The owners live next door, but the high walls, and garden hedges make you feel like you're completely isolated. Value for money, the cottage was brilliant, by far the cheapest cottage I found for a long weekend with everything we wanted, including the homely little extras of the hot-tub and log burner. The owners worked completely around us and when we could arrive, and communication with them was so convenient. The cottage was so clean when we arrived, and we could just unpack and relax straight away! We have recommended the cottage to a number of our friends already, and we will definitely be returning!

Holiday at the cottage was exactly what we requested beautiful views location not far from some beautiful beaches and amenities.however just one small quibble the hot tube could have been hotter overall a beautiful place to stay .

Nice little cottage but not very homely. Unfortunate smell of dogs. No hot water in the bathroom sink or the kitchen sink as mentioned in previous reviews so had to boil kettles. Mirror light did not work in the bathroom and the shower was just ok. The sofas were uncomfortable. The hot tub was lovely but needs to be under some sort of shelter to keep towels dry when it's raining. Gravel parking was a bit of a problem and a sensor light would be advisable as it was pitch black in the evening. Tv was small and the signal kept disappearing. If all these little problems were sorted it would be a lovely, lovely cottage but we still enjoyed it.

A lovely cottage in a very peaceful location. With the bedroom & bathroom on a mezzanine floor I felt it was only ideal for a couple. The twin bedroom is off of the kitchen/dining area. Cottage generally well equipped but lacking a hairdryer!!. Had an issue with the electric shower but after being advised to keep control on 'Eco' setting it worked ok. A note in the information would have solved the problem earlier!. Welcoming tray of tea and cake was a nice touch.
