Yorkshire Cottages

The Yorkshire Regional Specialist -Fantastic properties in the most favourable locations. No one knows Yorkshire better!

Enjoy the views from the balcony at this unique cottage. It nestles in a picturesque rural location with a wood burner and beautiful landscaped gardens.

Nestling in a picturesque rural location, Shepherds Rest provides superb holiday accommodation with a barn conversion which is attached to the owner’s home and enjoys beautiful landscaped gardens to the front and the privacy of a paved patio and garden to the rear. Stylishly furnished and decorated the cottage enjoys a light and airy reception room/ kitchen which is open to the eaves and complemented by a host of exposed beams and trusses. In addition to the "eco friendly" under floor heating from a ground source pump, the cottage also provides a wood burning stove, making a central feature in the lounge area. There are two bedrooms, each unique with the Master bedroom found at first floor level and hosting a super king size bed along with patio doors leading out onto a delightful balcony which overlooks a large pond. The second bedroom is a king size zip and link bed at lower ground floor level with a feature window overlooking the gardens to the front.
Shepherds Rest is situated in the picturesque hamlet of Low Easby, with no through traffic and beneath the Captain Cook Monument, some 2.5 miles from Great Ayton and bordering the North York Moors National Park. The cottage ensures a perfect base for the outdoor enthusiast and great walking, hiking and cycling with the Cleveland Way passing by. Lovely walks and a private seating area can be found within the grounds, along with access to adjoining fields and woods. There is a large unfenced pond in the garden and children must be strictly supervised.
From the cottage, the beautiful East Yorkshire coastal resorts of Runswick Bay, Whitby and Robin Hood’s Bay are all easily accessible, each offering beaches and tea rooms along with speciality shops in Whitby selling anything from "Jet" jewellery to smoked fish. Or why not board the North York Moors steam train which travels from Whitby through the pretty Moors villages of Grosmont, Goathland and Levisham, en route to the bustling market town of Pickering. For those wishing to venture a little further, the historic City of York, complete with Minster and Museum or the Yorkshire Dales can be easily accessed by car under less than one hour.

This is a really excellent cottage in a lovely location. The space is laid out really well and the owners have thought about what people need when they are staying in holiday accommodation. The views are lovely and the bird song spectacular. We were able to do some lovely walks from the cottage and the nearest town with an excellent array of shops is only 7 minutes away by car. We have stayed in a lot of self-catering cottages and this ranks up there with the best of them. I would highly recommend staying here.

We liked it a lot. We don't usually like being so close to the owners but we only saw them on arrival and that was that. There was no welcome pack as such and I always think that at least a pint of milk should be provided, most especially during the festive season or any bank holiday when someone might arrive without the basics (milk, bread & butter/marj) and may not be able to buy them from anywhere. The visitors book seemed to suggest that sometimes one is provided (or perhaps it was in the past) but not for us. Shame that! There was plenty of fast flowing hot water for the bath but the hot water gave up on us on one morning part way through a shower and we had no way of working out how we might heat it up again fast. Also the main bathroom was quite cold most of the time and would have benefited from a heated towel rail or a radiator as under floor heating isn't the warmest form of heating.

Beautifully converted barn attached to the owners home. Fixtures and fittings of high quality. Obviously a lot of thought has gone into the layout, split level accommodation with a large bedroom and bath/shower room on each level. Underfloor heating meant the barn was always lovely and warm despite the cold and snow we had during out visit. Drying areas for wet coats and shoes. Beds and showers large! Ample off street car parking and grounds. Didn't want to leave! We will return in the summer!

This is a lovely cottage. The renovation is finished to a very high standard and the interior is attractively-designed. The kitchen made it easy to prepare simple meals and it was great to have a dishwasher in a holiday cottage. The wood-burning stove was a real treat. I like loved the nuthatches visiting the bird feeder outside. The surrounding countryside is gorgeous. I would absolutely consider going back to this cottage if I wanted to visit the area again.

This cottage was booked as a base for walking the Cleveland Way with one of us ferrying the other two. From the moment we arrived to the reluctant leaving we were all delighted with the quality of the accommodation and the lovely garden. The cottage has lots of character and style whilst the facilities are up to date. It is light and airy. The kitchen is well equipped, the bedrooms spacious and comfortable and the bathrooms lovely. It was great returning each day and felt like home.
