Buxton is a 20 minute drive, Leek 10 minutes, though the main road is almost entirely out of sight and sound from the house. Shawside is a classic Victorian Staffordshire farmhouse and barn conversion set in four acres of grounds, with unrestricted views along a moorland valley and very few buildings in sight. In summer the heather blooms turn the valley a gorgeous purple. Shop 3 miles, pub 1½ miles.

    A great cottage in a lovely setting. Very comfortable and well equipped and the bottle of wine and biscuits a very nice touch. The most comfortable holiday beds we have had.
