the cottage is what it is. fantastic location superb views but the cottage is in need of a good clean and a coat of paint as it is beginning to look shabby. this was our 6th year in shandwick cottage and have sadly seen it deteriorate over this time but that said it didn't stop us from having a lovely weeks holiday with plenty of sunshine. hopefully to be back next year

The cottage's location in the village is beautiful: great seaview and only 50 m to the beach. The village itself doesn't offer much and you have to drive a while to get to interesting places.

Beautiful scenery, peaceful and relaxing week, cosy cottage , throw a stick for the dog from the porch and it reaches the beach !! Porridge for breakfast made in an underfloor heated kitchen, a couple of steps outside porridge and a glass of glenmorangie sitting on the garden bench looking out to sea .. Surrounded by mountains covered with snow (April .. Bring an anorack) Typical fishing village surroundings , so a bit of a distance for bigger shops .. Views from upstairs Windows stunning wife and I spotted dolphins on the third day..

Stayed for a week at Shandwick Cottage with German Shepherd dog and we all thought it was a great base for a relaxing holiday by the sea. There is a spacious garden for the dog to run to the beach through. Kitchen well equipped, living room cosy but could do with some plumper cushions for the bench seat. For the technos, Wi-fi faster than I get at home. Some previous reviews mention dodgy electrics. There is a speaker cable hanging unconnected but that is all. One light bulb blew and tripped the electric but electric box is safe and modern. Could do with some of the light bulbs being replaced, or having some more spares in the kitchen drawer. Inn in Balintore serves great food and pub near the shop allows dogs. We loved it.

A lovely cottage and we have a fantastic time, it could do with some touch ups here and there which would have made it perfect.

We stayed at the cottage 3 years ago. The location is lovely with super views to the beach from the garden and upstairs window. However we feel that the cottage is in need of a little TLC and some new furniture and kitchen utensils. All in all we would recommend it and return again.
