Description

This holiday cottage is in the grounds of Sewerby Hall, with spectacular views over Bridlington Bay.

Formerly gatehouses and lodge to the Grade 1 listed Georgian House of Sewerby Hall, these award-winning period properties have been carefully restored to a very good standard, resulting in three unique detached holiday cottages (refs 27522, 27523 and 27524). Visitors can enjoy access to Sewerby Hall Estate and Gardens (seasonal opening times apply). The hall, restored in 2014 as a country house circa 1910, displays impressive historic interiors, nationally important furniture which is on loan from the Victoria and Albert Museum London, and a collection of memorabilia that was once owned by the famous local aviator, Amy Johnson. The 50-acres of grounds offer spectacular views over Bridlington Bay and include award-winning landscaped gardens and numerous woodland walks, with a huge variety of wildlife. Children will love the fascinating collection of animals in the zoo, including penguins and ring-tailed lemurs. The estate contains a 9-hole pitch ’n’ putt golf course, 18-hole putting green and a children’s adventure playground. The Clock Tower Cafe and Stables gift shop both offer 10% discount on selected items for visitors staying in the cottages. A short walk leads to the beach, or alternatively visitors can board the Land Train for a cliff top journey to Bridlington. The traditional resort of Bridlington appeals to all ages with its bustling harbour, historic Old Town, The Spa Bridlington and miles of sandy beaches. Local places of interest include Flamborough Head with its famous lighthouse, RSPB Bempton Nature Reserve with unrivalled views of puffins, guillemots and kittiwakes, whilst inland lie the scenic Yorkshire Wolds, inspiration for the famous paintings by David Hockney. Shop 1/4 mile, pub 200 yards and restaurant 400 yards.

All on ground floor: Living room with laminate floor. Dining room/kitchen with laminate floor. 2 bedrooms: 1 double with en-suite shower room and toilet, 1 single with additional pull out single. Bathroom with shower over bath and toilet.

Parking (2 cars, 50 yards).

Lovely trip with our 2 daughters aged 1 & 4. The location is excellent if you are lucky with the weather as we were in the Feb holidays, we had some lovely walks and bright sunshine. Great farm cafe a short drive, pub which only serves food until the aft in winter months. Cottage had everything we needed and made a great base for a relaxing break.

Lovely cottage in perfect location. The only reason I didn't give it 10 is a lack of plugs in bedroom within reach of a mirror, hairdryer, tongs, straighteners etc......but very warm and comfy beds!

A beautiful cottage in a lovely setting. It is so nice to have the sea so near and it's a lovely walk to Bridlington on the beach. Good pub next door.

Another enjoyable stay at Beech Cottage. Already booked our next break in March 17. Recommend the Ship for food or just a drink, the Old Forge for coffee & cake and a wander around Sewerby Hall & gardens is a must! Xmas decorations at Burton Agnes & Burton Constable are wonderful.

Missing comfortable chairs to sit in to relax - we both have bad backs and would have liked more comfortable sitting arrangements. Having said that, the bed was most comfortable! Perfect holiday for our special family reunion. Brilliant Sewerby Hall and all it's amenities, close to the sea and a walk into Bridlington.

the only downside is that the parking is not at the side of the cottage as we are not so good on our legs these days

This place is an absolute gem, especially if you have children. My 5 and 7 year olds adored it here. There are amazing grounds and gardens to explore, as well as the house, a play park, the animals, and those sea views. You get free access to the house and a voucher for a ride on the land train. The cottage is outstanding. There is plenty of space; it has a well-equipped kitchen, and a lovely private garden. We were very comfortable. We got the land train down to the North beach and travelled by car to the south beach on other days. I had next year's holiday booked within half an hour of getting home. Highly recommended and can't wait to come back next summer.

Overall safety good garden enclosed for children's safety, Accommodation excellent. Only downside is if you don't have a car local shop is quite a walk. Suggest a shop on site.

Lovely in every respect. The cottage was superbly appointed and everything had been provided with great attention to detail. It was lovely to be able to go in and out of the grounds as we pleased, and we benefited from very generous passes and vouchers.
