Description

This holiday cottage is in the grounds of Sewerby Hall, with spectacular views over Bridlington Bay.

Formerly gatehouses and lodge to the Grade 1 listed Georgian House of Sewerby Hall, these award-winning period properties have been carefully restored to a very good standard, resulting in three unique detached holiday cottages (refs 27522, 27523 and 27524). Visitors can enjoy access to Sewerby Hall Estate and Gardens (seasonal opening times apply). The hall, restored in 2014 as a country house circa 1910, displays impressive historic interiors, nationally important furniture which is on loan from the Victoria and Albert Museum London, and a collection of memorabilia that was once owned by the famous local aviator, Amy Johnson. The 50-acres of grounds offer spectacular views over Bridlington Bay and include award-winning landscaped gardens and numerous woodland walks, with a huge variety of wildlife. Children will love the fascinating collection of animals in the zoo, including penguins and ring-tailed lemurs. The estate contains a 9-hole pitch ’n’ putt golf course, 18-hole putting green and a children’s adventure playground. The Clock Tower Cafe and Stables gift shop both offer 10% discount on selected items for visitors staying in the cottages. A short walk leads to the beach, or alternatively visitors can board the Land Train for a cliff top journey to Bridlington. The traditional resort of Bridlington appeals to all ages with its bustling harbour, historic Old Town, The Spa Bridlington and miles of sandy beaches. Local places of interest include Flamborough Head with its famous lighthouse, RSPB Bempton Nature Reserve with unrivalled views of puffins, guillemots and kittiwakes, whilst inland lie the scenic Yorkshire Wolds, inspiration for the famous paintings by David Hockney. Shop 1/4 mile, pub 200 yards and restaurant 400 yards.

Well positioned, for both Brid , Sewerby, & Flamborough. All the staff were friendly. Access to hall & grounds an important feature to the holiday! Lovely walks & enjoyed the train ride too. Only problem we had ,was furniture & bed very low, not very good for old bones!

This was our 4th year in Beech Cottage and we were disappointed with the level of cleanliness compared to our previous visits. The cottage is in a lovely location, but I feel that it no longer represents value for money, so we would be unlikely to return.

The cottage is spotless, in a lovely location and is beautiful. However it somehow lacks coziness, whether it was the constant beep of the burglar alarm everytime you go out, or the very formal instructions with everything. No information is provided on local convenience stores or supermarkets or the best chippy, no Drs surgery info etc. This is the first time I have stayed in a cottage owned by an organisation rather than individuals, I think that may have something to do with the difference.

Another lovely week at Beech Cottage. This was our 6th or 7th stay here and for the first time the cleaning wasn't up to scratch - there was a a lot of food debris in the dishwasher so we couldn't use it until we'd put a deep clean wash through. We did mention it in the office and received an apology and offer to refund the cost of the cleaning pod. Certainly won't put us off going again and already planning our next break!

Lovely trip with our 2 daughters aged 1 & 4. The location is excellent if you are lucky with the weather as we were in the Feb holidays, we had some lovely walks and bright sunshine. Great farm cafe a short drive, pub which only serves food until the aft in winter months. Cottage had everything we needed and made a great base for a relaxing break.

Lovely cottage in perfect location. The only reason I didn't give it 10 is a lack of plugs in bedroom within reach of a mirror, hairdryer, tongs, straighteners etc......but very warm and comfy beds!

A beautiful cottage in a lovely setting. It is so nice to have the sea so near and it's a lovely walk to Bridlington on the beach. Good pub next door.
