Welcome Cottages

A carefully curated collection of properties that offer high quality, good value accommodation in great locations across the UK, Ireland, France and Italy

Enjoy a family seaside holiday at this apartment, which lies just a short walk from the beach and local amenities.

Within a short stroll of the beach, this first floor holiday apartment makes an ideal base from which to explore the spectacular combination of coast and countryside that 1066 country has to offer. Bexhill-on-Sea is an elegant, Edwardian seaside resort and is also the birthplace of British motor racing. Gilbert Sackville, 8th Earl De La Warr, hosted Britain’s first automobile race here in 1902. The De La Warr Pavilion is one of the UK’s finest examples of modern architecture. Now a major arts centre, it hosts many exhibitions and performances, including one by the rock band, Keane.

Along the 2-mile promenade, you can hire a beach hut, search the rock pools for crabs or try your hand at water sports. There are many castles to visit within easy driving distance including Pevensey, Hastings and Bodiam. Other places to visit nearby include Battle Abbey and the surrounding thriving market town, and the National Trust properties of Bateman’s, once home to Rudyard Kipling, and Lamb House in Rye, once home to Henry James. Rail connections run from Bexhill to London for further sightseeing opportunities. Beach 110 yards. Shop and pub 25 yards, restaurant 50 yards.

Property location and layout is great but is badly let down by the poor level of cleanliness throughout. Although 3 guests booked only 1 bath towel was provided, no soap in bathrooms. Bedding was old and stained. Random selection of crockery which was all dirty, cutlery and cooking utensils also dirty. No washing up liquid or scourers. No working light bulbs in the hallway of the flat, only one working light bulb in the kitchen area. Only one really horrible tea towel.

Central location, great selection of shops and cafes. Parking a nightmare. Pigeons noisy at rear of property.

The property was nice, but the bed linens were a bit shabby, some were stained. It would have been good to know about the lack of parking.
