Description

An ideal holiday retreat with panoramic sea views and cliff top walks leading to a 1½ mile beach walk.

Offering superb, panoramic sea views to the front and side, and distant views over the South Downs National Park to the side and rear, this light and airy holiday property makes an ideal retreat for couples or families. It is accessed along an unadopted lane, only 300 yards from the nearest restaurant. There is a large enclosed decked area overlooking the far-reaching views, the perfect spot in which to enjoy al fresco dining and where glorious sunsets can be savoured. The cliff top walks start straight from the door, leading down to a 1½-mile beach walk, accessed via a ramp about 100 yards from the property. The games room on the first floor is great for kids, with a pool table and games as well as a TV and sofa bed. There is so much to do in the area; Brighton Marina and the cosmopolitan city centre are a short drive, with numerous bars, live music, eateries, theatres, art galleries and antique shops. Enjoy shopping in The Lanes, saunter along the pier or visit Brighton Sea Life Centre or the opulent Royal Pavilion. Newhaven with ferries to Dieppe, is about 10 minutes’ drive, why not take the ferry over to the French markets for the day. Within easy reach are historic Lewes, Bluebell Railway, Filching Manor Motor Museum, Seven Sisters Country Park, Drusilla’s Zoo, Beachy Head and Glyndebourne (opera in the grounds during summer). For horse racing enthusiasts there is Hickstead, Brighton and Plumpton. Enjoy Firle Place, Charleston House, Pevensey Castle, Battle, 1066 Country and Eastbourne with international tennis and its Victorian promenade. Other places to visit include historic Arundel Castle and many National Trust homes and gardens. Shop 800 yards, pub and restaurant 300 yards.

First time I,ve rented a cottage, I was very pleased with this one. The cottage was very well thought out and it was like being at home with every home comfort provided My family and I had a well needed relaxing break with the options of staying in enjoying the spectacular views or beachfront walks literally just outside the garden gate. The added bonus for us was our dogs were also allowed The bus stop a couple of minutes walk and the bus ride into the bustling town 10 minutes away was a great option to driving would definitely recommend it to my friends and family, i would definitely stay here again and again. We all feel like we have been away for a month and not a week, very relaxed

A beautiful location. We had a great walk to Rottingdean, and a there is a good bus service to Brighton. The seating wasn't terribly comfortable, and the one bathroom was sometimes a problem with three teenagers in the cottage, but overall a lovely bungalow.

Arrived at 3.20pm and cleaner was still in the property with not much done which delayed us settling in. No second key available for other members of our party either. Location and views were outstanding with gorgeous sunsets. Not far from Brighton or Eastbourne with good bus routes to both. Looking at coming back again next year.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; We are sorry that our cleaner was not ready for you on this occasion. Guests leave the cottage in varying states, and sometimes the cleaning takes much longer than others. It should be ready for arrivals from 3.30pm, but most guests arrive a bit later. About the key, this is a mystery. We have just visited the cottage and the spare key is hanging on a hook in the kitchen. It is attached to a pair of miniature China Dutch clogs. The cleaner has now had another spare cut, so this problem should not happen again. We are glad that you enjoyed your stay and are planning to return!

This is an outstanding cottage. We booked it as a 3 bedroom (4 adults, 2 children) but with the extra games room upstairs with a second TV and sofa it felt a lot larger. The kitchen facilities are great (it felt like using our own kitchen) which was really useful as with small children we wanted to cook in the evening. The outside seating and BBQ were also fab. The views are amazing from the decking area outside - we had great sunsets in the warm weather. Location wise - being between Brighton and Eastbourne made getting around really easy. The buses are excellent if you didn't want to drive.

We had a lovely holiday at sea coast view. The house has a lived in feel about it which we enjoy. Not everything was perfect but it didn't mean that our holiday was not fantastic. The sink in the en suite is interesting and we couldn't find a spare set of keys so we just used the key safe instead. We were helped greatly by the brilliant weather. Our teenage son loved the upstairs room with the big t v. We had several family visitors join us for different parts of the holiday and they enjoyed the football upstairs as well!

This was a lovely house in a great location with wonderful views - so easy to just open the door and get to the sea within a few minutes. Also good transport links to the surrounding area. The house was well stocked with all the essentials. Lovely and clean. It was a great base for 3 generations of the same family. We would be very happy to return.

Overall pleased with the cottage - wouldn't really call double room with shower & toilet as en-suite because no handbasin for washing, shaving etc.. V small basin on top of wc not really suitable for anything. Mattress in this room also needs changing very lumpy.

Lovely cottage. Booked to take our beloved dog with us. Unfortunately he passed away 2 months before our holiday. We wasn't going to go but we did in the end and really had a lovely week. We we so lucky with the weather, it was hot every day. Had a barbecue too. Everything perfect in the cottage. Only hiccup is the french doors, hard to lock them-there's a knack to it. Probably need replacing, other than that I would definitely recommend it.
