This was a lovely place to stay, l initially worried about the mattresses being old and feeling springs, also having little or no views from 2 of the bedrooms, but the children were all happy and comfortable. A really easy cottage to stay in to use as a base to see my family all day. Thank you.

Just back from a week at Sandy Brae Cottage in Findochty, or Finechty as the locals call it! Booked through Cottages 4 You however we did have direct contact with the owner (Barry, lovely Man). Firstly Findochty is one of the most picturesque places we have ever been to and we will defintely return at some point. The cottage is in a very good location, just up from the harbour and 1 minute walk to a little sandy cove. There is access to another couple of cottages on the lane outside the front door so you can unload here but have to park on the road but it's not a busy road by any means. First impessions of the property on arrival were that it would have benefitted from a more exhaustive clean than what had been provided by the cleaner that the owner is using. The kitchen needed a good wipe down and there was a greasy baking tray in the oven. Previous occupants had left used items in the kitchen ie sauce, potatoes etc etc, all probably done with good intentions but we always think it's a good idea not to leave anything behind as you dont know its history! The sofa in the lounge had quite a few marks on it, unfortunately some holidaymakers tend not to treat such things as they would their own. That aside, again a good deep clean would probably go a long way. This property allows dogs (for which we are greatful!). Barry advised that there was a stair gate in the cupboard to use so that the dogs didn't go upstairs, however this did not sit well on the stairs and we ended up using a clothes dryer! No problem for us but the supplied stair gate would be useless (possibly dangerous) for a family with small children. The property was well kitted out with everything you would need, bedrooms were tidy, although again would benefit from a good thorough clean (some old dirty socks found under one of the beds). There was a problem with the washing machine which we alerted Barry to (it has his contact details in the welcome book and it does say to contact him if there are any issues). Again to his credit, he arranged for a repair man to come out and it was sorted later in the week. Wifi was handy as there is no mobile signal (for which Barry provided the use of a landline which is also a nice touch) There is a small patch of garden at one end of the building which is a great wee sun trap and has loveley views. It attaches on to the neighbours garden and they were also lovely people, very friendly. Chairs etc are available in the garage to use. Overall, smashing place, cottage in a great location, just needs a little TLC
