This holiday property is situated in a desirable elevated postition with stunning views extending from National Trust countryside to the glorious 3 mile Woolacombe beach, Putsborough, Baggy Point and across the channel to Lundy Island. The extensive surf washed golden sands of Woolacombe, unquestionably one of the finest Blue Flag beaches in Britain, is just a short walk away. Woolacombe village itself is lively and popular with all age groups, offering a selection of pubs, restaurants, shops, amusements. A network of coastal footpaths can be taken from your doorstep, or a short drive to nearby Ilfracombe, Lee Bay, the remaining Golden Coast beaches of Croyde, Saunton and Exmoor National Park. Woolacombe beach ½ mile. Shop 55 yards and pub ½ mile.

    We enjoyed a lovely week at Sands - a beautiful cosy cottage with stunning views. Lovely friendly communication from the owner. Very cosy set up on entering, we arrived in a bit of a storm to find lights and (gentle) heat on, so welcoming.

    The apartment is tired and needs money spending on it as the shower cubicle in main bath leaked all the time needing towels outside to soak up water, the doors to bedrooms would not shut and blew open when windows were were left open, the toilet seat lid to ensuite missing this is unhygienic, the carpet to main bedroom very smelly especially when windows shut, curtain rail to main bedroom almost coming down. The up side the lounge very comfy and cosy with great views of beach and rolling hills, and the kitchen well equipped and spacious. The parking very tight and the road outside full of pot holes scraping my car to underside several times a day and finally not the right accommodation for people with limited mobility as the outside metal staircase leading to the front door very steep and slippery when wet also dark to climb up at night.

    Response on behalf of the owner. Thank you for making me aware of any possible issues at the apartment. I do spend a good deal of time, money and effort every year maintaining standards there and strive to offer a high level of quality and comfort for all guests. All recent reviews have been highly positive and have maintained a score in excess of 8 or 9 overall, therefore it is disappointing to hear that you were not entirely satisfied with the accommodation. I will look into the issue with the bedroom doors. The shower categorically does not leak at all, unfortunately any leaks are created when guests fail to close the shower door correctly when taking a shower, hence why I leave an additional rolled up towel under the door as I notice that this happens frequently. I will attend to the en-suite toilet, this was broken recently. I am not aware of there being a problem with the carpet in the main bedroom, I have the same carpet throughout the apartment, however the bedroom does benefit from proper airing on a daily basis and I can only assume this was not ideally possible during your stay due to the unusually wet weather conditions. I am glad to hear that you enjoyed the rest of the apartment and the lovely views that it benefits from in its high location. We and the agency make a point of informing guests of the unmade road conditions outside the apartment and all guests are given the suggestion (prior to their arrival) of using the route via the holiday park as an alternative, please do let me know if for some reason you were not notified of this prior to your stay. As also you should be made aware of the access via the external metal staircase, which indeed may not be suitable for all guests and careful consideration of this should be taken before booking the apartment. There are three sensor operated outside lights on the staircase. I fully appreciate your feedback and rest assured I will attend to any issues that are necessary.

    Better than expected. The apartment was made welcoming by the lighting and the treats of coffee and cookies in the kitchen together with milk in the fridge. The lounge was large and very comfortable and would be great whatever time of year you were staying. We would certainly book again if we wanted to stay in woolacombe.
