Description

Set on a working farm, this holiday cottage is an ideal base for golfers, with four courses within a 30-minute drive.

Set in 70 acres of beautiful pastures leading to the Coombe Valley. As the name suggests, Sanctuary Farm Cottages provides a wonderful sanctuary in which to relax and unwind. Converted to a very good standard, these barn conversions, built using authentic materials, retain plenty of character with vaulted ceilings, exposed stonework and oak wooden floors. The holiday cottages are set on a mixed working farm and have been individually decorated to provide an ambience of peace and tranquillity. Woods Close (ref 17831) has its own private balcony and sitting out area boasting wonderful views. Guests are free to wander the woodlands and natural grounds or a 1½ mile walk through woodlands leads to the sandy beach at Duckpool. A profusion of cliff, beach and moorland paths for walkers to enjoy - why not start with the coastline’s Heritage Trail. Bude, 5 miles, has shops, pubs, restaurants and facilities for golf, swimming and ten pin bowling. Horse riding in the village. There are four golf courses within a 30-minute drive, including the Ivyleaf Golf Course which is just 3 miles away. Water sports, fishing, canoeing and bird watching at Tamar Lakes, 6 miles. Horse riding within 5 miles. Shop and pub 1½ miles. Appletree Cottage, ref 18512, adjoins Woods Close, ref 17381.

Lovely cottage really cosy nice walks to be had nearby, my only criticism would be that the bed was really squeaky whenever you moved. But we had a lovely time. Thanks.

on directions it says sanctuary farm situated at the end of a long drive which is maybe misleading as it is at the end of a long farm track.

Lovely cottage and really lovely people (especially the cream tea on arrival!). Great location for walkers as shops etc are more of a drive away (and on that note, don't go in a car with low ground clearance the driveway is a bit undulating). For us it was great being on a working farm but just be aware that you will have the odd tractor going past the window. Highly recommended for outdoorsy people!

Lovely little cottage on a pretty working farm, very friendly family and a home-made cream tea ready for us on arrival. I had read that it was down a dirt track but didn't realise quite how remote it was. It was a mud track for more than 1/2 a mile which is difficult in a low slung car as the raised part in the middle of the track was scraping on the bottom so we had to drive at 7 miles an hour at an angle driving right up against the hedgerows to raise the chassis up. For me, the cottage was lovely and I would stay again but for the location - it was very quiet but 1 1/2 miles to the nearest shop, pub and fish and chip shops. We were told it was 1 1/2 miles from the beach but after an hour of walking in the right direction we saw no sea and gave up as it was also very boggy. The nearby beach of Sandymouth Bay is well worth a visit - especially during rough weather, it is very rugged and the waves crashing on the rocks were amazing. Bude beach is also very pretty with its varied colour cliffs and rock pools.

Have stayed here before and love the total remoteness of the cottage. Located centrally so we visited Clovelly and Boscastle as well as local places. Owners very friendly and welcoming and a great powerful shower. Would stay again!

Lovely cottage with lovely walks. Only downside was it was in the middle of nowhere but if that's what your after it's perfect.

A lovely cottage on a farm, great views and a real get away from it all. Friendly and helpful owners live in farm house. Only mobile coverage for Vodafone unfortunately and no WiFi. Not a great signal to the free view tv either. Terrace not joined to cottage and had seen better days.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; Thank you for your kind comments and glad that you enjoyed your holiday. We apologise that at the time of your holiday there was a lightning strike which was out of our control which did affect the TV signal. This was rectified within a few days. The Terrace has been repainted. We hope you return to our cottage in the future.

Loved this place. Perfect hideaway and only a short walk to the beach. We were lucky enough to see all the wild flowers in bloom which made the walk to the beach even better than expected. The cream tea on arrival was wonderful and may possibly be the best scones we've ever had!! Thank you!
