We had a fantastic stay at Samphire Cottage - it’s a wonderful cottage with all of the amenities you would wish for and with the added bonus of a welcome basket from the owners, which was a really nice touch. The cottage has everything we wanted for a short break away.

Home from home, including books, games & dvds everything you could need. Clean, well kept & beautifully decorated. Plenty of room for four adults. Chip shop, pub, Co-op & Boots chemist within 5 minute walk. Decking to front of house with seating for a great sea view. Location great for Weymouth, Portland Bill & Chesil Beach reachable by car furthest being approx 15 minutes. Host very attentive, made us feel very welcome. Look forward to returning.

We had the most amazing Christmas here. The hosts were lovely and accommodating. When we arrived the cottage had been decorated for the festive season with a very nice gift basket. Everything we needed was there and the most comfortable bed ever. Very peaceful. Spotlessly clean with great TV's (with Netflix) and DAB radio as well as a good hairdryer. Huge bath and shower across from double bedroom, with separate bath and toilet downstairs. Everyone we met was very friendly. Just minutes away from a lovely beach, very frequent buses to Weymouth, local store and good pub. We will be back.

Fantastic week in this lovely cosy and well equipped cottage. It is like a home from home. we loved Portland and it was so easy to explore from here, as well as Weymouth and the Dorset coast. Parking space is tight and the road is a hill, so a walk back up after going out on foot. Also stairs are narrow and steepish as mentioned in the description. For us however all this added to the appeal and quirkiness of the property. We would definitely return and wouldn't hesitate to recommend samphire Cottage.

We regularly holiday in cottages in the south and south west of England and samphire cottage is our favourite so far. It is very fresh and clean, very well equipped with two excellent bathrooms and the kitchen has everything you need, good quality pots pans and cutlery etc. Also a good sized fridge and separate freezer and a dishwasher. The lounge and dining room are very nice and comfortable, with the added bonus of having sky and Netflix with the TV. The bedrooms are great, our bed was very comfortable and the kids lived their room and we're excited by the windy stairs. The location is great and there is a lovely view of the sea when you look down the hill from the decking at the front of the cottage. We walked to Chesil beach in less than 10 minutes and we were by no means rushing, just a steady stroll. Pubs/Restaurants, cafes and take aways are close by you can walk drive or get a delivery. We did all 3 and they were all very good. Overall we had a great holiday and we are thinking of going back next year which is very unusual for us as we normally go to a different place each year.

The cottage was very clean and tidy with everything we needed - a home from home. The neighbours were very friendly and informative. The Island itself was great with lots of interesting places to visit. I will definitely recommend to friends and family.

Lovely cottage, very well appointed, like home from home.Everything we needed was there and more. The owners certainly put a lot of effort and time into making this little cottage as comfortable as possible. Portland is ideally situated for many local attractions, very close to Weymouth, you can catch one of the many buses, take the ferry or walk along the Rodwell Trail.Portland itself has much to offer, fabulous walks, wildlife and the D day museum is very interesting, allowing visitors to climb on motorbikes etc(great for children) Lovely pub close by and great little cafe ,restaurant right on the beach overlooking Chesil beach. We couldn't have picked a better place to stay.

The cottage was very clean and well equipped. The beds and furnishings were very comfy and the large TVs and Netflix were a bonus as was the decked seating area at the front with sea view. We had a lovely welcome pack on arrival and overall had a lovely holiday. The stairs are steep and narrow as described and parking is tight for a larger vehicle, however that said we would return to Samphire Cottage.

Samphire cottage is a very comfortable well equipped cottage for exploring Portland. Every detail had been thought of even down to the small sitting out area with lovely sea view. Thank you Keith and Julie for the welcome pack and all the interesting information about the island.
