Best tonic to forget the cares of modern living, get away from it all, and enjoy the world in its natural state, from a base which from the outside is delightful and old fashioned, whilst on the inside is modern and very comfortable. Incredible job has been done to modernise the cottage inside, resulting in a highly quirky result, which is both functional and endearing. Excellent position to drive, bicycle or walk and enjoy all that the Borders has to offer. Our focus was on history and culture, walking our dog on hills and beside rivers, and enjoying the couple of clear nights through our new telescope toy, rendered all the more amazing due to the complete lack of light pollution in the area - not far away is the Kielder forest which has a Dark Sky rating.

Great cottage set in a very quiet village cheviots on doorstep and so is the pub serving good food

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; Thanks for your review. We are indeed very lucky to have a great pub on the doorstep. Even better, they now offer a full range of breakfast for our guests - just pop in and let them know when you want it, pay in advance and then rock up and enjoy! A full Scottish breakfast or Scottish salmon with scrambled egg anyone?

Without a doubt this is the best holiday cottage I've stayed in. It was comfortable and well-equipped. It's decorated in a very attractive way, and has a lovely terraced garden. The village is friendly and the countryside around, beautiful.

Unfortunately we had a cold and rainy week which made our stay a bit disappointing. In nice weather this cottage would have been far more comfortable but that is a personal opinion and shouldn't put people off as it is a great location for sight seeing and walking.
