Really charming cottage, great facilities and exceptionally clean and well presented. Only small fault - we stayed during the first cold weather of autumn and found the bedroom rather chilly.

We stayed in this wonderful country cottage to celebrate our 30th Wedding Anniversary. It was perfect. My wife has mobility issues so to be on one level was paramount...The welcome pack from the owners was totally in expected and really great. They also left an anniversary card and chocolates....So kind. The views were breathtaking,as soon as you looked out of the window or opened the door.We even fell in love with the delightful chimes from the local church.Yes,we loved the place!

Rowantree Cottage is exactly like the photo's on the website show. It's cosy, characterful, fully modernised and clean. There is a lovely secluded sitting out area at the rear with table and chairs. The owners have put plenty of thought into creature comforts from a welcome hamper to dish washer tablets and hand soap and much more. A nice touch and much appreciated by us.

Weather was atrocious but we made the best of things. Lots of castles and stately homes to visit within easyour travelling distance. The Border Hotel was welcoming with great food.

Response on behalf of the Owner; Glad you enjoyed your stay, if we could also guarantee the weather we would. Come back and see us again soon and well see what we can do next time.

the kitchen is a too small and would cause accidents, the cooker is totally inadequate in a very small area would not stay there again and would not recommend to friends

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; Thank you for your comments. We are saddened to hear that you did not enjoy your stay as we take guest feedback extremely seriously. To address your points; Rowantree is a Grade II listed building of historic interest and sits in a conservation area therefore we are limited as to what we can do to the property. We have therefore made the best of the space we have and like to think that we have equipped it to the highest standards and thought of most things to ensure that guests have a comfortable stay. Reference the cooker; we have received no complaints as to its inadequacy before so are concerned to hear this from you. We adhere to all of the Health and Safety requirements and as such undertake a yearly risk assessment. Having checked our description and pictures of the kitchen, they are as accurate as they can be and do show a small galley kitchen. Whilst we realise that the cottage will not be for everyone, we are sad that there are no positive points in your review and are genuinely disappointed to receive such a low score which is in not consistent with our usual feedback.

Best tonic to forget the cares of modern living, get away from it all, and enjoy the world in its natural state, from a base which from the outside is delightful and old fashioned, whilst on the inside is modern and very comfortable. Incredible job has been done to modernise the cottage inside, resulting in a highly quirky result, which is both functional and endearing. Excellent position to drive, bicycle or walk and enjoy all that the Borders has to offer. Our focus was on history and culture, walking our dog on hills and beside rivers, and enjoying the couple of clear nights through our new telescope toy, rendered all the more amazing due to the complete lack of light pollution in the area - not far away is the Kielder forest which has a Dark Sky rating.
