A converted cottage furnished and equipped to a high standard. Walking distance to the beach.

Row Moor Farm is situated close to both Cockermouth and Maryport, between the Lake District Fells and the Solway Coast. Each of which are within a few minutes drive. You may enjoy gentle walks along the beach or choose more strenuous mountain walks. Cockermouth is famous as the birth place for William Wordsworth but has many other attractions, including The Sheep and Wool Centre, numerous art galleries, the Kirkgate Arts Centre and a good selection of Restaurants, Shops and Pubs. At Maryport there is the Harbour, Maritime museum and Aquarium of the Lakes. The border City of Carlisle is within 30 minutes drive. Barn Cottage and Loft Cottage are adjoining each other, next to the owners house. They may be let separately or together for up to 11 people.

Ground Floor: Heated by oil fired central heating, the accommodation comprises:
Lounge/diner: With colour TV, DVD, video, CD radio, electric stove and patio doors.
Kitchen: With electric oven and hob, washer/dryer, dishwasher, fridge/freezer and microwave.
Bedroom 1: Single bedroom.
Shower Room: Disabled friendly wet room with shower, WC and wash hand basin.

First Floor: Sunroom: With sofa, TV, DVD and views.
Bedroom 2: Double bedroom with feature stone wall and original loft window and en suite Shower, WC and wash hand basin.
Bedroom 3: Twin bedroom.
Bathroom: With shower over bath, WC and wash hand basin.

Oil fired Central heating, all fuel, bed linen and towels are provided. Cot, highchair and stairgate available.Outside, patio areas and garden furniture. Ample parking. One well behaved pet welcome

    Unfortunately the description "a working farm" was not quite true unless one can accept half a dozen hens and a number of cows a field away. In fact, the outbuildings were used for producing firewood from tree trunks and the noise of the machinery went on all day from around 08.30 until dusk. In addition the property was heated by means of some kind of equipment in another outbuilding which, presumably burned sawdust or other waste. The metal chimney of this outbuilding belched smoke which permeated the cottage -wouldn't recommend it to anyone with breathing problems. Our holiday was in April - so maybe it might be less of a problem in summer time.

    Response on behalf of the Owner; It was with great sadness and regret when I read your review that after 14yrs of guests staying at Row Moor Farm, that your needs were not catered for, for that I hold myself fully responsible, even though no interest was shown in farming, I should have been more proactive in showing her the more modern side of a British farm. Just to clarify some points raised, At the time of your stay, there was in fact 60 cattle housed in the "out building" but these cannot be seen from inside the cottage, they are fed and watered twice daily using modern machinery, I can take a small amount of pride in the fact of their contented quietness during your stay. The second point, the issue of heating which is by biomass boiler. Renewable energy is something which I feel very passionate about and the elimination of the use of fossil fuels to provide unlimited hot water and heating, by using locally sourced "tree trunks" I feel is a step forward, but it is a relatively new technology and measures have now been taken in regards to the wood smoke, which a recent guest remarked that it reminded him of the peat fires of his native Ireland. I was also saddened that no mention was made of the high standard of the property itself.
