Fully restored 17th century cottage located in a pretty village – ideal for couples or families

Located on a peaceful lane in the delightful and historic village of Snape, Roseview is a beautifully restored 17th century stone cottage, providing excellent accommodation for couples and families alike in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales.
Sympathetically transformed with oak floors, wooden beams and a wood burning stove, Roseview is furnished in a very comfortable contemporary style. With two bedrooms upstairs, both with their own ensuite bathroom facility, the cottage can accommodate up to four guests, with a shower room on the ground floor a handy additional facility. The lounge with wood burner offers a cosy place to unwind at the end of the day, or you might prefer to relax in the reading area in the separate dining room, and the kitchen is well equipped with everything required for self catering.  A beautiful lawned garden to the rear is enclosed and secluded, perfect for a summer’s afternoon. A shed is also available for those wishing to take advantage of the quiet roads and bring their own bicycles.
Snape village has a pub serving food, an excellent farm shop, a pretty beck running through it, and even a  castle, dating from 1426 once the home of Henry VIII’s last, and surviving, wife Katherine Parr.  For those with an interest in nature, Thorpe Perrow Arboretum is a short distance away. The Georgian market town of Bedale is around 3 miles away and offers a wide selection of shops, tea rooms and pubs along with the town of Masham, which has two breweries to explore and holds various seasonal events. We have just returned from this exceptionally well presented cottage. Warm and cosy, modernised to provide everything required for a comfortable stay, it is cleaned to a very high standard, so just walking in, we felt immediately at home. The garden is completely enclosed so our little dog was safe to sniff around and there were tips for local walks, also used by locals who were all so friendly. We booked the cottage primarily for ease of access to motorway links so it was a bit of a drive to some of the Dales towns and walks we are used to, which is the only reason that score is marked down. Highly recommended.

Beautiful, clean, well equipped cottage with a welcome pack of groceries which was such a lovely touch and just what we needed after a long journey. Best cottage we've stayed in so far. The village is beautiful such friendly welcoming people. Lovely pub and just the best farm shop. Fresh bread every day. Amazing walks and lovely places to visit. Yorkshire is truly beautiful and we would definitely visit again and stay in this cottage.

I have hired many cottages in the past but this is the first time that I have been asked for £100 in advance, variously referred to as a 'Security deposit' and 'Damage deposit'. There followed the hassle of paying it, asking for it back and then checking that it was back in my account. Not only that but as soon as you walk in to the property you see a notice threatening you with a £40 cleaning charge if the property is not left 'how you found it'. None of this is conducive to a relaxed stay.

Response on behalf of the owner; Thank you for taking the time to comment. We were delighted to see you scored the cottage 10/10 for ‘comfort and equipment’, ‘location’ and ‘cleanliness’. We were sorry though to read that you weren’t very happy with the ‘damage deposit’ arrangements. This is a standard process with our agents who assure us deposits are automatically transferred back to guests at the end of a stay, unless of course there are any breakages etc. Thank you for raising this, we have asked our agent to ensure the damage deposit arrangements are clearer and more straightforward for our guests. Thanks too for the comments about house keeping. We do offer a cleaning service but to confirm there is no charge for cleaning at the end of the holiday, this is included. Thank you again for taking the time to comment.

Very nice, well appointed cottage. The beds were very comfortable and the deep bath tubs were gorgeous for a dip after a full days walk in the country side.
