Welsh Country Cottages

An inspiring collection of properties chosen for their character, luxury and heritage, all graded 4 star and above..

Comfortably refurbished, this is a fantastic base for a relaxing break or active holiday, many attractions can be found nearby.

Lying peacefully on the banks of the glistening River Teifi within extensive grounds and on a 91-acre working farm, these traditional, Welsh barn conversions (refs JUK, JUL, OAM and OFA) have been converted to a very good standard and offer a perfect base for a family or couples looking to explore the dramatic coastline and rugged mountains of west Wales. Conveniently located just 2 miles away from the charming, market town of Cardigan, Rosehill Farm is situated well off the beaten track and is surrounded by rolling terrain where horses, goats and lambs call home. On the approach to the farm, guests will be greeted with spectacular views of the River Teifi, which is famously renowned for its freshwater salmon and trout fishing, and superb water based activities including kayaking and sailing. Each cottage has been sympathetically restored to uncover much of its original charm and character, including exposed beams and stone walls, and traditional wood-burning stoves have been added to provide a wonderful ambience for those cosy nights in. Outside, guests can relax on their own private patio area, perfect for unwinding after a busy day’s adventure whilst watching the red kites and peregrine falcons soar over the magnificent scenery.
Close to the iconic Pembrokeshire National Park, guests can ramble the majestic Preseli Hills and discover picturesque walks and ancient monuments, including the Bronze Age burial chamber of Pentre Ifan Dolmen, which stands beautifully in rugged terrain. The nearby market towns of Cardigan, Newcastle Emlyn and Carmarthen are all rich with Welsh culture and offer a selection of traditional pubs, boutique and antique gift shops, along with some restaurants waiting to be explored. The magnificent coastline is just a short drive away and is home to golden beaches, horseshoe coves and the pretty coastal towns of Newport, New Quay and Aberaeron, which are set in tranquil fishing harbours where bottlenose dolphins and seals can be spotted on a clear day. For an interesting day out, take a scenic drive to Britain’s smallest city of St David’s and discover its 12th-century cathedral and medieval ruins of Bishops’s Palace, or take a sea safari around the off-shore island of Ramsey, cruising close to seabirds, seals and the occasional dolphin. Shops and pub 2 miles.

Galleried open-plan modern fitted kitchen/dining room with steps down to living room with wood-burning stove, doors to patio and river views. Conservatory. Double bedroom with en-suite shower room and toilet. First floor (sloping ceilings throughout): Three spacious bedrooms; one double and two twin, one with extra 2ft 6in bed (for +1). A lovely cottage though the advertised Wi-Fi was non existent which was a shame as there isn't much mobile signal in the area. Some essentials like dish washer tablets and washing machine detergent being available would have made life easier too. Nevertheless, we had a good time and the location was excellent to allow exploration of the surrounding area.

Plenty of space inside and out. Close to local town and amenities short drive away. Would definately recommend to stay there.

A beautiful barn conversion and idyllic location. Great for a week away with kids and the dogs. However, a couple of things mentioned in the spec were not there (no wifi or DVD player) which was a shame but not the purpose of the holiday so no need to complain. Also, the heater in the living room and one of the bedrooms was broken. We had to keep the open fire going morning till night just to hear the downstairs. Would definitely consider another visit but only in summer time. Don't be put off by these things

Rose Barn is a very spacious, comfortable and traditional barn conversion. We stayed here for a week during May half term. Two families, two dogs, and we couldn't have been happier. The front of the property overlooks open fields and there are amazing views of the river out of the lounge and upstairs windows. It's a place to really relax and enjoy. The property itself is well equipped with traditional crockery and cooking equipment in keeping with it's cottage feel. Plenty of fresh towels were provided and logs should you need them. The open plan style of the lounge/kitchen area was a real hit with us and our friends. Our children had an amazing time, there are horses and goats and sheep, woodland walks and fields a plenty! Other reviews mention that wifi is bad, trust me, you do not need wifi, or the television. We didn't even turn it on once! The owner was just lovely. Nici welcomed us when we arrived and was on hand throughout the week if we needed any advice or help with places to visit or things to do. Although she did not impose at all, just happy to help should we need her. She had great advice, from fishing to horse riding on the beach! Which may I add was amazing. The area itself is stunning, local beaches are beautiful as is the coastline. We were all blown away by it's beauty. There are so many things to do, steam trains, cycle paths, walks, castles, you name it! We were blessed with 7 days of glorious sunshine, Wales is truly stunning and we all can't wait to go back! We will definitely stay here again.
