Welsh Country Cottages

From a touch of luxury to characterful heritage, experience one of our truly inspiring holiday properties.

Offering the best of both worlds with scenic seascapes and the breathtaking Preseli Mountains, a haven for walkers and cyclists.

Lying peacefully on the banks of the glistening River Teifi within extensive grounds and on a 91-acre working farm, these traditional, Welsh barn conversions (refs JUK, JUL, OAM and OFA) have been converted to a very good standard and offer a perfect base for a family or couples looking to explore the dramatic coastline and rugged mountains of west Wales. Conveniently located just 2 miles away from the charming, market town of Cardigan, Rosehill Farm is situated well off the beaten track and is surrounded by rolling terrain where horses, goats and lambs call home. On the approach to the farm, guests will be greeted with spectacular views of the River Teifi, which is famously renowned for its freshwater salmon and trout fishing, and superb water based activities including kayaking and sailing. Each cottage has been sympathetically restored to uncover much of its original charm and character, including exposed beams and stone walls, and traditional wood-burning stoves have been added to provide a wonderful ambience for those cosy nights in. Outside, guests can relax on their own private patio area, perfect for unwinding after a busy day’s adventure whilst watching the red kites and peregrine falcons soar over the magnificent scenery.
Close to the iconic Pembrokeshire National Park, guests can ramble the majestic Preseli Hills and discover picturesque walks and ancient monuments, including the Bronze Age burial chamber of Pentre Ifan Dolmen, which stands beautifully in rugged terrain. The nearby market towns of Cardigan, Newcastle Emlyn and Carmarthen are all rich with Welsh culture and offer a selection of traditional pubs, boutique and antique gift shops, along with some restaurants waiting to be explored. The magnificent coastline is just a short drive away and is home to golden beaches, horseshoe coves and the pretty coastal towns of Newport, New Quay and Aberaeron, which are set in tranquil fishing harbours where bottlenose dolphins and seals can be spotted on a clear day. For an interesting day out, take a scenic drive to Britain’s smallest city of St David’s and discover its 12th-century cathedral and medieval ruins of Bishops’s Palace, or take a sea safari around the off-shore island of Ramsey, cruising close to seabirds, seals and the occasional dolphin. Shops and pub 2 miles.

Open-plan living/dining room with wood-burning stove and doors to small patio and sloping lawns beyond. Kitchen area with modern fitted units. Conservatory. Lovely location but cottage a little disappointing. Not a great deal of equipment in the kitchen, to serve 6 people and heavy dishwasher door quite dangerous, as swung open wildly. Wished we had read about the shared washing machine, as we were running out of clothes after a wet week! Sliding bathroom doors did not close by about a foot! and upstairs toilet did not flush properly, also towels had seen better days. Generally doors of the property not very secure and curtains on the back door would have been nice. Also beware very low beams and ceilings, we soon learnt to duck. A little welcome pack/pint of milk would be nice on arrival, after a 10 hour journey, we were gasping for a cup of tea. The good points, lovely log burner in the lounge which we settled down in front of in the evenings and really nice dining area in the conservatory with fantastic views down to the river. We found the beds comfortable enough, although a chest of drawers in the bedrooms would have been useful. Our children loved all the lovely space they had to run about in safely and meeting some of the farm animals. The cottage is in easy reach of lots of nice attractions, we would recommend mwnt beach, devils bridge, new quay and carew castle.

For a 4 star property I expected more in the way of kitchen and bathroom amenities. There wasn't even any toilet paper!

Rough track as access, beds uncomfortable, cheap poor bedding, cottage tatty overall, had to hoover up cobwebs when we got there, dirty windows, stained curtains in bedroom, fridge repaired with duck tape, heaters broken and rusty and did not look safe, no effort made by owners to welcome us, dirty rusty barbecue, weeds around seating area, definitely not worthy of the its rating or cost.
