Welsh Country Cottages

An inspiring collection of properties chosen for their character, luxury and heritage, all graded 4 star and above..

Description

Enjoy use of you very own private hot tub, watch the stars with a glass of wine and take in the views of the sublime Welsh countryside.

Lying peacefully on the banks of the glistening River Teifi within extensive grounds and on a 91-acre working farm, these traditional, Welsh barn conversions (refs JUK, JUL, OAM and OFA) have been converted to a very good standard and offer a perfect base for a family or couples looking to explore the dramatic coastline and rugged mountains of west Wales. Conveniently located just 2 miles away from the charming, market town of Cardigan, Rosehill Farm is situated well off the beaten track and is surrounded by rolling terrain where horses, goats and lambs call home. On the approach to the farm, guests will be greeted with spectacular views of the River Teifi, which is famously renowned for its freshwater salmon and trout fishing, and superb water based activities including kayaking and sailing. Each cottage has been sympathetically restored to uncover much of its original charm and character, including exposed beams and stone walls. Outside, guests can relax on their own private patio area, perfect for unwinding after a busy day’s adventure whilst watching the red kites and peregrine falcons soar over the magnificent scenery.
Close to the iconic Pembrokeshire National Park, guests can ramble the majestic Preseli Hills and discover picturesque walks and ancient monuments, including the Bronze Age burial chamber of Pentre Ifan Dolmen, which stands beautifully in rugged terrain. The nearby market towns of Cardigan, Newcastle Emlyn and Carmarthen are all rich with Welsh culture and offer a selection of traditional pubs, boutique and antique gift shops, along with some restaurants waiting to be explored. The magnificent coastline is just a short drive away and is home to golden beaches, horseshoe coves and the pretty coastal towns of Newport, New Quay and Aberaeron, which are set in tranquil fishing harbours where bottlenose dolphins and seals can be spotted on a clear day. For an interesting day out, take a scenic drive to Britain’s smallest city of St David’s and discover its 12th-century cathedral and medieval ruins of Bishops’s Palace, or take a sea safari around the off-shore island of Ramsey, cruising close to seabirds, seals and the occasional dolphin. Shops and pub 2 miles.

Open-plan living/dining room with doors to small patio and sloping lawns beyond. Kitchen area with modern fitted units. Conservatory. Double bedroom with en-suite wet room and toilet. First floor (sloping ceilings throughout): Double bedroom. Twin bedroom. Bathroom with toilet.

Great location. Comfortable beds, pleasant conservatory. Main problem poor shower in upstairs bathroom little water, little headroom if you choose to have a bath. Kitchen really insufficient plates, bowls. No soup bowls or spoons. Could also do with been upgraded e.g provision of chopping boards, cafetière, tumblers etc. Visitors book? Leaflets on local attractions would enhance this otherwise lovely holiday cottage.

Not much good to say really. Location is really nice and this could be a lovely cottage but it's let down by so many things. Please don't advertise as having WiFi if there isn't. I know its a beautiful location but if you say you have WiFi I expect there to at least a faint signal. Kitchen was lacking on a few basics that the owner said she'd drop off and never did. Main source of heating is the wood burner which is fine and cosy. Plenty of free wood - but how were we expected to light it without any matches? And the carbon monoxide alarm (kind of important with fire) was under the sink with the batteries missing. Plenty of towels provided, but I could have sanded the woodwork with them they were that rough. Never found out where the shared washing machine was located or the owners tumble drier. Not the cleanest of properties either.

We stayed in Deri with our big family and then moved to Teifi when they had gone. Whilst both are lovely, teifi has amazing unhindered views and stole our hearts. Lovely magical place. Would like some flexibility re moving out time. Had a lovely time

Loved the location. Lovely to wake up to the sheep coming to visit. Kitchen utensils/facilities brill. Could have done with some more blankets and shower upstairs unusable for adults. Some repairs to the potholes on the driveway would also have been appreciated. Local eggs down the lane were tasty. Also the walks in the reserve lovely. Very friendly people.

We loved staying at Deri cottage, the view was beautiful. We thoroughly enjoyed watching the wildlife on the river and waking up to the sound of birds calling. Our children loved spotting the regal stag that regularly visited the fields adjacent to the cottage. The cottage was suitably equipped, the beds were incredibly comfortable and the log burner was most welcome during the chilly October mornings and evenings. Nothing was too much trouble for owner Nicci and Chief. We will definitely be making a return visit. Thank you!
