Description

Discover New Quay, Aberaeron and Aberystwyth filled with fantastic amenities and beautiful beaches.

Delightful Rose Cottage is a comfortable, detached holiday home situated on a working smallholding with dogs, horses, sheep, chickens and ducks, in the peaceful hamlet of Mydroilyn, just over 4 miles from the stunning Heritage Coastline of Ceredigion. There are fantastic amenities and beautiful beaches (many of them dog friendly all year round) all within easy reach. Visit quaint New Quay where houses, pubs and restaurants cling to the sides of the hills overlooking the sheltered harbour and blue waters of the bay. Bottlenose dolphins are resident in these waters and can often be seen either from the harbour wall or more close up on a boat trip. It’s no wonder poet Dylan Thomas found this place such an inspiration when he lived here. The picturesque Georgian town of Aberaeron with its colourful houses is well worth a visit and it offers seafood restaurants and chic shops as well as the famous honey ice cream.
The mountainous region of the Cambrians is a great place to explore and offers fantastic views and miles of peaceful walking. Visit Aberystwyth with its long promenade and electric cliff railway, take the steam train to Devil’s Bridge, or visit Strata Florida Abbey, one of Wales’ most important historical sites. Beach 4 miles. Shop and restaurant 2 miles, pub ½ mile.

All on ground floor: Living room with double sofa bed. Dining room/kitchen. 1 double bedroom. Bathroom with shower over bath and toilet.

Gas central heating, gas, electricity, bed linen and towels included. Travel cot and high chair on request. Freeview TV. DVD. Gas hob. Electric oven. Microwave. Washing machine. Tumble dryer. Freezer. Wi-fi. Enclosed garden with patio, sitting-out area and furniture. Shared 6¼-acre wooded grounds. Barbecue. Parking (2 cars). Cycle store. Welcome pack. No smoking. NB: Small covered pond, sloping bank and steps in grounds.

Location a bit, remote and the pub was certainly more than 1/2 mile away . Cottage clean and tidy and owner pleasant enough also dogs friendly. Wi-if only seems to work if you are in the garden area. Location of nearest store was also min of 4m from cottage.

Rose Cottage is a great place to stay. Really liked the fact that the Cottage has been made to feel homely with some real emphasis on making it a special place to stay. Aberaeron is a wonderful place - only 4 miles away and has great places to eat and wonderful sunset over the sea. Thanks to Amanda for the very friendly and welcoming feeling to the cottage. Would definitely book Rose Cottage again in future.

Perfect for quiet relaxing weekend, which is what we wanted. Slightly disappointed in size of the bed. Also it was advertised as enclosed garden which was the main attraction given we have 2 springers. However they could escape around back of cottage so they had to be on a lead at all times. Very clean and easy to keep clean even with dogs..

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; Thank you for your positive comments. I am very sorry that you were disappointed with the size of the bed..... it is a standard double. Although the garden is fully enclosed there is a steep, high bank behind. Very few dogs have stayed in the cottage who have decided to climb it. As I have a Springer myself I know from personal experience how bold they are, so it doesn't surprise me that they managed it. There are several areas around the property where you can let dogs off the lead that are fully fenced and I would have been happy to show you if this would have helped.

An exceptionally well equipped cottage that was comfortable, spacious and finished to a high standard. With patience managed to get wi-fi downloads and sporadic mobile text but no phone link. Only reservations related to the access lane which was rather bumpy, the location which was about 5 miles from main road, the lack of a view, and the rear garden is somewhat overgrown since the photos were taken, although still peaceful.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; Thank you for your lovely feedback. On the subject of the garden, the photos were taken at the beginning of the season when the plants were not actively growing. The garden was planned to be a pleasant place to sit and enjoy the birds of which we get hundreds, some of which are quite unusual, and also to attract other wildlife, in particular bees. I also have frogs and toads (if you are lucky enough to see one). To that end the plants grown are varieties which are good for wildlife and I do tend to let the garden grow fairly naturally, only weeding and cutting back when absolutely necessary.

We had a relaxing time at rose cottage. The cottage was well thought out, clean comfortable and well maintained. Plenty of scope for walking the dog, it was pleasing to find somewhere so dog friendly. My only tiny tiny criticism was the lack of a consistent wi fi signal. But that being said I would recommend this cottage to anyone looking for a peaceful retreat. The welcome pack was a nice touch and greatly appreciated.

Everything in the cottage was fine, all the appliances worked well and it was nicely situated. The only problem we had was with the sofa-bed which was very uncomfortable so we put the mattress on the floor . That was the only downside.

Lovely and spacious, had all the basics. Four of us plus a baby and it didn't feel cramped. Everything worked although the water flow was a bit weak. Was more of a smallholding than a farm. Owners were nice although we didn't see much of them. Wifi very weak and no Vodafone signal.
