Description

Set in a peaceful location, on the edge of Dartmoor, and with easy access to ample activities.

With easy access to the A38, this cottage is perfect for day trips out exploring Dartmoor and the South Hams. Set in a very peaceful location, the property has been decorated and furnished to a very high standard. Ashburton has plenty of independent shops to wander around including antiques, award-winning delis, pubs and fantastic restaurants. There are also events on throughout the year so it is worth checking what is on before you come. Both Exeter with its stunning cathedral and Plymouth, with the National Marine Aquarium and Barbican are within easy driving distance, 25 miles. There are many activities available locally, including canoeing on the River Dart, high ropes, carriage driving courses, fishing, walking and the unusual activity of letter boxing. There are many exciting spots for bird watchers, and look out for deer and Dartmoor ponies close to the property. The extensive coastline of the southwest peninsula offers endless opportunities to enjoy watersports, surfing or just a day at the seaside. There is plenty to do locally for children and the young at heart, including the otter and butterfly sanctuary 1 mile, River Dart Country Park 1 mile, the rare breed petting farm 8 miles, Pennywell Farm 3 miles and Woodlands theme park 12 miles, Dartmoor Zoo, made famous by the film ’We bought a Zoo’, 20 miles to name but a few. The busy market town of Newton Abbot is close by and a visit to Widecombe-in-the-Moor is a must. There are many National Trust properties within driving distance. We only booked less than a month before our trip. We got a discount on the regular price. The cottage was easy to find once we had the final details from the owners who live next door. Lovely little cottage with shared garden space for the kids to play in. Nicely equipped for a small cottage and comfortable. Overall a really nice stay. Ideal to explore Dartmoor and close to Darlington, Totnes, Dartmouth
