Description

Rocks Cottage is a fantastic property for an active holiday as there are many popular attractions within easy reach.

Rocks Cottage lies in the Victorian cliff town of Lynton within Exmoor National Park. Tucked away in a quiet side street, it makes an ideal holiday base from which to explore this stunning part of the country. The convenient location means that all of Lynton’s amenities including shops, restaurants and pubs are within walking distance. The cliff railway leads from Lynton to the coastal village of Lynmouth with its harbour. There is great walking in the area, including Valley of the Rocks and Watersmeet. Some of the most stunning parts of the South West Coastal Path are right on the doorstep. There are numerous attractions within easy reach of the cottage including Combe Martin Wildlife and Dinosaur Park and Watermouth Castle. At Croyde and Woolacombe, you will find some of the best and cleanest surf beaches in the country as well as many smaller coves and bays. Exmoor has lots to offer including Tarr Steps, the village of Withypool and a walk up Dunkery Beacon, the highest point on Exmoor. A day out into West Somerset is recommended with places such as Porlock Weir, Dunster with its castle (NT) and the seaside town of Minehead, home to the West Somerset Steam Railway. There are National Trust properties at Arlington and Knightshayes and the RHS gardens at Rosemoor, Great Torrington. Beach 1 mile. Shop 100 yards, pub 200 yards and restaurant 150 yards.

    A very clean, well equipped snug cottage, lovely area. Cream tea's are a must!

    Lovely little cottage and a great base to explore the area from, only problem we had was a little cold due to only having storage heaters and had to use the eletric heater supplied to warm bedroom up as it was a cold week. But would stay again with no hesitation :-)

    Spent February half term here with my 11 year old daughter and it was ideal for us. Small, cosy, clean, smart and tastefully furnished/decorated. Being out of season, the village was quiet but not dead. The location for shops and cafes is perfect and easy driving distance to the places we visited (Wildlife park near Coombe Martin, Heddon Valley) and we walked to both Watersmeet and the Valley of the Rocks from the cottage (taking the funicular railway back up from Lynmouth to Lynton after our hike to Watersmeet!). Charlie Friday's cafe is a must!

    This is my own fault really , the house was just too small - and not a cottage at all. Parking was very problematic, and according to the info someone was due to come and collect rubbish on Tuesday, but nobody came.

    Response on behalf of the owner; The property is known as a cottage because of the size and the style. While the living room is snug, the kitchen/ diner and bedrooms are of a good size and all well equipped. Although on road parking is not always available there is a large car park close by in the same street.

    Excellent location close to a super selection of restaurants and mini-markets - it was great to have local banking facilities and a post office. A well equipped kitchen - the property was clean and comfortable. Within walking distance of Lynmouth - excellent walks to suit all.

    The cottage was lovely - very well contained and clean and cosy. We had a lovely weekend and managed to get out and about albeit the weather wasn't great. The only downside was parking- there was none and it was difficult when we arrived to unpack and get all of our bags into the cottage. The shower also left a lot to be desired. It was slow and unpredicable but it didn't stop us enjoying a lovely break in a delightful part of the West Country.
