This is a lovely property in beautiful surroundings. I had a lovely time here. But i did find the kitchen unclean. The plates glasses knifes and forks were mostly dirty. . I had to wash it all before i used them.. this could be down to dish washer not cleaning it all properly.. but it was very off putting. Also when i arrived there was a awful oil smell which made u feel sick.. this was from where the owners had tried to light ray burn before i arrived but it wouldn't work. I had to ppen all the doors to get fresh in.

Beautiful! Great walks in and around the area, plenty of great places to visit about 20 minutes in a car, Bradford upon Avon, Lacock and much more. Wiltshire is a beautiful county.

We had a lovely holiday in a spacious pretty thatched cottage where we were allowed the dog. The fittings were not the new ones you might have come to expect these days, it was an old family home. And there was no welcome pack or pint of milk. But our reporting of the leaking shower and blocked sink was responded to immediately. So in spite of the above, it was a lovely old cottage in a beautiful area and we would be happy to go back.

The location of this property is lovely. There is a high quality pub and restaurant within 100 metres plus a farmshop which stocks good quality, if pricey, food. The cottage was a bit of a letdown though. The bathroom and downstairs WC were nice and clean however the kitchen left a bit to be desired. There were bread crumbs in, on, under and around the toaster which had not been cleaned for some time. There was what looked like broccoli stuck to the chopping board. The bedding which looked clean enough had not been ironed and the pillows have seen better days. There was dust into which you could write your name behind the door of the main bedroom. The top of the drawer unit in the second bedroom had dust/crumbs and hairs on it. On the plus side this is a very old and atmospheric cottage with lots of character, the terrace with its good quality outdoor furniture was lovely and although close to a fairly busy road we were not disturbed at all. We accept that this is a very old property and some dust is to be expected, but the level of general cleaning needs to be improved.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; We are very sorry this family felt they had cause to rate the cottage so low, but do appreciate some of the nice comments they also made. The cottage is cleaned after each visit but obviously within the limited time between changeovers, occasionally items do get overlooked for which we can only apologise and try to improve upon next time. We were surprised by the comments on the bedding as the sheets, duvet covers and pillow cases are all Egyptian cotton and are ironed after every wash. The pillows are not old and all have pillow protectors on them. Having had a good look we are happy that none are excessively worn but do think we could benefit from some additional fatter pillows to suit those that like them and we shall get these shortly. The road is normally fairly quiet apart from a mini rush hour at either end of the day, (which I am afraid we join in doing the school run to the next village) but they have been resurfacing sections over the last month which has caused some additional noise. It is now all finished. It is never easy hearing criticism (especially about our little cottage which was our family home for several years) but we will take note of the issues raised.

Enjoyable and comfortable 5 day stay in a central location that met all our requirements. The recent addition of wifi was a bonus. Would definitely book again if revisiting the area.

A lovely property which was ideal for a weekend away to enable us to visit Thruxton. Some beautiful walks, in the immediate area, were particularly enjoyable, especially the visit to the top of the Westbury White Horse. Thank you very much.
