Rivington is an ideal place for those wishing to be in a traditional village setting.

Coniston village nestles at the foot of ‘The Old Man’, the most famous of the Coniston Fells. The village retains a good deal of its Victorian past and still has the local butcher, the grocer, the dairy, not forgetting some rather fine pubs, literally one on every corner. Rivington must boast one of the most fantastic views of ‘The Old Man’ and Yewdale Fell from its lounge windows, the bungalow being opposite the bowling green and cricket field. A level 150 yard walk from the centre of the village and an easy 10 minute stroll to Coniston Water, Rivington is an ideal place for those wishing to be in a traditional village setting. A family home for many years, Rivington remains furnished as such, comfortable and traditional in style. The gardens to the front and rear are enclosed, particularly suitable for those with pets and the rear garden is sunny and peaceful.

Lovely location and it was very useful to be able to park the car in beside the house. Our two Fox terriers were secure in the gardens although we mainly kept them in the rear garden. The view from the living room was stunning. The proximity of the property to the shops and pubs was excellent. The Black Bull Inn served good food and drink. Further afield, the Outgate Inn is definitely worth a visit as is the Tower Bank Inn at Near Sawrey. The walk from Ferry House to Wray Castle along Lake Windermere was a favourite. Also a lovely walk from Coniston to Torver with lunch at the Wilson Arms in Torver - we took the route along Coniston Water rather than along the side of the road. A great holiday and we hope to return to the Lake District fairly soon.

The cottage is a great location, just a few minutes walk into town centre. the porch on the side of cottage was great for storing walking boots, coats etc. also for the dog. Comfortable cottage, my only negative is that it could have done with a good spring clean. perhaps because its so popular and always booked up, that there is never the time to really clean to a high standard.
