This beautifully presented, detached bungalow sits in the owner’s well-established garden and has two of Cornwall’s loveliest gardens within a short walk. This area of Cornwall is inundated with many tourist attractions, pretty coastal villages and resorts; from Fowey to Mevagissey the whole of St Austell Bay is dotted with secret coves and secluded beaches, such as Menabilly made famous by Daphne du Maurier. The village of Charlestown, frequently used as a film and TV set, is just a stroll away from the holiday property, and has several good places to eat right on the ancient quayside which is the home to the Tall Ships used on many films. The Eden Project and The Lost Gardens of Heligan, both a must for all visitors to Cornwall, are close by and can even be visited by bike - a cycle hire centre can be found in the village of Pentewan across the bay. Shop 1 mile, pub and restaurant 0.25 miles.

All on ground floor: Living room with double sofa bed (for alternative sleeping) and patio doors/dining room/kitchen with wooden floor. 1 double (5ft) bedroom. Shower room with toilet.

Gas central heating included (£30per week November-March). Gas, electricity, bed linen and towels included. Freeview TV. DVD. Gas hob. Electricity oven. Microwave. Washing machine. Tumble dryer. Dishwasher. Freezer. Small enclosed courtyard with sitting-out area and furniture. Shared use of owner’s large garden. Parking (2 cars). Welcome pack. No smoking. No children under 10 years. Couples and family bookings only. NB: Pond in owner’s garden.

Riverside cottage was a very comfortable ‘home from home’ with nothing left wanting. It was ideally located for visiting the local attractions and also well located for shopping and eating out. Our hosts were there if needed but respected our privacy during our stay - and the cream tea which was waiting for us upon arrival was most welcome. The only thing to make a nearly perfect stay actually perfect would have been the availability of WiFi. For this we had to travel to Tesco daily to check emails etc. Prior to arrival it would have been helpful to be given clear directions to the cottage as this stood within the grounds of the owner’s property at Carpenter’s Barn. Carpenter’s Barn is clearly seen from the road, Riverside Cottage is not.

Great place to stay to explore the area. Lots of places nearby to visit. Comfy accommodation with all facilities except wifi.

A lovely cottage in a rural setting but near amenities. Pleasant owners and a very welcome cream tea on arrival.
