Description

Overlooking the River Severn, Riverbank Cottage is a charming cottage in the centre of Ironbridge, ideal for exploring Shropshire.

As the name suggests, Riverbank Cottage is tucked away on the banks of the River Severn, enjoying impressive views over the water. This traditional cottage is an end terrace, and has been thoughtfully renovated to provide spacious accommodation over 4 floors. Its prominent position within the town, along with its own parking, makes the property ideal for visitors wanting to explore the area. The famous Iron Bridge is less than a few hundred yards away, as is the town centre’s shops, bars and restaurants. Some of the more notable museums are also within walking distance.

Ironbridge is a superb base for exploring this area of Shropshire; there’s Telford, Ludlow, Shrewsbury, Much Wenlock and Bridgnorth to name a few points of interest in the vicinity. Activity centres can be found in Much Wenlock and Condover near Shrewsbury. There’s also horse racing at Ludlow and the National Trust property Attingham Park nearby. If you’re willing to go further afield, Powis Castle, Chirk Castle and Erddig are all within an hour’s drive on the other side of the England-Wales border. Shop, pub and restaurant 200 yards.

An excellent location, comfortable cottage, although the basement area is not so usable in the winter.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; Glad you enjoyed your stay in the cottage. I would like to know why the basement was not so usable in winter. There is central heating with two basement radiators and we always provide an extra plug in heater, usually that's for the summer when central heating isn't required, but can also be used in extreme temperatures. Its not something that any guests have mentioned before. If you mentioned it I could have extended the timer or put it on constant. Let me know next time you visit, hope to see you again soon.

This cottage is a brilliant place to stay, well equipped, handy for Ironbridge and museums. Sitting out on the terrace with a glass of wine, watching the birds was a delight. You know you have come to the right place when all you can find wrong is the toilet roll the wrong way round in it's holder.

Beautiful, well equipped cottage in an excellent, dog friendly location with lots of walks in the doorstep. Pretty terraced garden with various seating areas. Lots of information within the cottage about the area. Would return and recommend . The only drawback would be it is over four floor and the garden has different levels so not ideal for the less mobile

Response on behalf of the owner:- Hi Karen, Many thanks for your lovely comments. Hope to see you again in the future. Jayne

We had a fantastic stay in Riverbank Cottage for 4 nights. The cottage is a lot bigger than it looks from outside and the views from the back of the cottage are lovely. The beds are very comfortable as are the chairs in the lounge. The cottage is very well equipped and the owners have thought of everything. The only negative for us was the road noise at night when we went to bed as it is quite a busy road so it's a shame the window isn't double glazed but this wouldn't stop us staying here again as you can't hear the road sat in the living room or from the back garden where it is so peaceful! The cottage is fantastically located as it's a few steps walk from the shops, bars restaurants etc. There is so much to do in this area and we absolutely adored Ironbridge. We took the dog and there are some great walks. We found this cottage excellent value and would definitely recommend!
