Set in a tranquil location
Secluded valley 5 minutes from beach

The Barnyard is ideally situated to explore the Cornish coast. Nestled in a quiet valley it is only a 30 minute walk to a sandy beach, ideal for surfing, water sports or cliff walks. Its central location means you are only minutes away from local attractions such as the Eden Project, Tate Gallery and Minack Theatre. Within easy reach are a number of National Trust retreats such as Godrevy Headland and the famous gardens. There is also an 18 hole golf course less than a mile away. Most of the cottages are 2 storey reverse accommodation and give unspoilt views of the private gardens. There is a private drive and the 3-acre grounds are secluded, ideal for picnics, barbecues and sunbathing. The small wooden play area is excellent for children to explore, and there is a games room with pool table, table football, wide screen TV, DVDs and videos.
The Barnyard was imaginatively converted from a traditional range of farm buildings which have been refurbished whilst retaining much of their rustic character, with exposed beams and natural pine doors and stairs. The owners have taken great care to provide a very good standards of comfort, and the kitchens and bathrooms are well-appointed. Shop and pub within 1 mile.

Nice cottage within short walk of charming Portreath with great beach and access to beautiful coastal path network. Basic and somewhat dated but good value for money and with everything we needed. Pleasant and helpful owners and staff

Nice location, pleasant 30 minute walk to the nearest beach (no dogs on the beach here though, had to drive to find a beach we could use). Friendly and helpful caretaker (owners were away). We arrived to the shower, cooker hood, and a light in the hall not working. The shower and light were repaired on the day we reported and an electrician called to the cooker hood the next day. The Kitchen could have been better lit and slightly better equiped (no coffee cafetier), and there absolutely nothing provided- no welcome pack of a few tea bags, no hand soap, washing up liquid etc- simply 1 sponge, 1 bin bag, and 1 very small tea towel. Unfortunately the curtain in the bedroom smelt musty, and the shower curtain and bathroom curtain had mold. Not adequate storage space in bedroom to unpack clothes into. Most upsettingly the matress was very uncomfortable, (poor quality and old, so not supportive and you could feel every spring) so we were stiff and sore and didn't sleep very well on our relaxing holiday. Wifi only worked if you sat outside in the courtyard or in the laundry room (not the owers fault, but perhaps it should be advertised with 'wifi available on the complex' rather than in the property). Lovely part of the world, lovely people, but a bit dissapointed in the quality of accomodation.

Not up to usual standards. Very cold. Bedding not warm enough for the time of year. Towels we were given were still very damp-straight from the laundry. The place smelt cold and damp. One tea towel for a week not good. Felt the whole set up needed some TLC. We did however enjoy our holiday in a lovely area. it may once have received a gold award but it wouldnot now.
