    Location-wise this property is perfect as it is a couple of minutes walk from shops, bars and restaurants ; however it is situated in a very run down area which does not feel very "holiday". Parking is an issue. You need to use the garage to avoid blocking other people in or being blocked in yourself. When I arrived the garage was very untidy with open pots of paint and wood lying around - plus bags of takeaway containers and general refuse. This we tidied ourselves before we could use the garage. Internally the property was clean, tidy and warm and in the right area would have been ideal.

    Response on behalf of the Owner; In 8 years of successfully letting my property as a holiday home, this is the first time that I have ever received a review highlighting that my property is in a "run down area". I cannot understand that if my property is "perfectly situated", as it is only a couple of minutes’ walk from Bowness, a very busy tourist destination and place of natural beauty, consisting of streets of cottages and holiday homes, why it would be suggested that it is a "run down non holiday area"? It is not the conventional Lakeland cottage, but the images on the Welcome / website are an accurate indication of the property style. As my property has been very popular this year and continually let, it has been very difficult to complete any maintenance works. The refurbishment of the external stair balustrade could only be done on change over days and had been pencilled in for the week you were in the property and so the decorator tried his up most to complete the works prior to your arrival, which unfortunately due to the change in weather was not possible. I will speak to the decorator regarding this and can only apologise for the state of the garage as I was unaware of this, but only wish that you had spoken with the maintenance team who could have highlighted this to me and would have rectified this situation immediately. The parking space outside my property is a single space and you do have to park between the cars from the adjacent properties, although I would consider it a generous parking space. During busy periods, the orientation can prove difficult dependent on the size of car, but the fact that there is a double garage available to residents letting the property shouldn't mean there are issues. I am saddened that you felt the need to mark the property so low, as a simple call to the maintenance team could have rectified the garage issues in no time at all and other than this concern, it seems the house generally was to your liking. The house is superbly located and is clean, warm and cosy and I am very sorry that you appeared to have not liked the area.

    A great location but the apartment is in need of a facelift and new facilities (TV, Shower, Oven etc). Overall the apartment is clean but looking more closely there is a lack of attention to details. We were able to directly compare the same apartment a few doors up and the difference was remarkable. Also the next door neighbour held a party which lasted from midnight to 9am the following morning!! Be warned! The apartment is accessed by a steep flight of stairs with no lighting (there was a light but it didn't work) so not ideal for small children.

    Response on behalf of the Owner; Firstly I would like to apologise for your recent bad stay in my property, it is our intention that all our guests enjoy a comfortable and relaxing break in a clean and well maintained property. Secondly I would like to thank you for taking the time to review the property, without your comments these issues could not be rectified. If I can, I will address your issues as you have listed them: External light bulb blown - Unfortunately it is very difficult to foresee an issue like this occurring. When the cleaner checked the fitting they assured me it was working, however in the time between checking the fitting and your arrival the bulb had blown. This bulb has been replaced and the cleaner's made aware. There is a maintenance team on hand and if there are issues such as this, they can be called out to attend and replace bulbs or any other equipment as required. Their telephone numbers are available on the noticeboard. Old facilities shower / TV / oven - After testing each of these they were in full working order. Due to the TV looking dated I have put in a new flat screen. I have also replaced the hose on the shower as it had a slight kink and did slightly reduce the water flow. Decor - It is very difficult to suit all tastes. We have had previous good comments about the decor, but following on from your comments have updated some of the furnishings. The neighbours - I can only apologise for my neighbour holding a party whilst you were on your break, this is not a regular occurrence and we have spoken to them. They were most apologetic at having upset you and your family and it certainly was not their intention.
