Great location and wonderful views. Disappointed by the odd bits of furniture, cheap beds and bendy cutlery though. Shabby chic it is not. If you are at all unsteady on your feet, or over 6' tall this is not for you. Low beams look rustic but beware. Narrow timber staircase down to kitchen and bathroom is a nightmare for those of us having to "go" in the night as the bedrooms and lounge are on the upper floor.

Incorrect directions meant that we got lost and arrived in the dead of night after a long day's travel, only to be met by a swarm of hornets and our host who didn't want to wait for us so left the house unlocked. When we met her the following evening, she shrugged her shoulders and told us there was nothing she could do about a hornet's nest. The bedding was frankly disgusting: towelling sheets and mattresses that were more than past their best meant 2 weeks of terrible sleep and waking in a pool of sweat. We often ended up bringing in the sun loungers into the tiny kitchen and sleeping on those most nights. The was a distinct lack of generosity in the property: no salt, pepper, washing up liquid, washing up brush, dishwasher tablets, soap for the bathroom. Everything was sticky and dirty, the towels were tiny, there was ½ a toilet roll. Whilst we fully expect to buy our own food etc, we found it frankly mean that there was nothing else provided as a basic. It felt only ½ a step up from a caravan holiday and very expensive. Most of the cutlery and crockery was bent or cracked or harlequin set. Everything felt mean and less than basic. No mobile or internet service at all. A total dead zone: which is fine - but impossible to book tickets for popular attractions, organising days out . We had to go to tourist offices constantly to ask for uninterested help and use their wifi. No information was ever given about where to put the rubbish or recycling. We used the house as a base and explored but never really enjoyed a full day at the house as it was endlessly so inhospitable with hornets or wasps or flying ants. 1 fan provided did nothing to cool the air in the stifling rooms and whilst we were very lucky with the weather, we dreaded going to bed as we knew how badly we would sleep.
