Welcome Cottages

A carefully curated collection of properties that offer high quality, good value accommodation in great locations across the UK, Ireland, France and Italy

For a romantic seaside break this cosy cottage is perfect for two people, yards from the beach and within walking distance of Looe’s picturesque harbour.

Located in a narrow street, this 18th-century former fisherman’s cottage with original beams is just a stone’s throw from the harbour side of West Looe. This holiday cottage is ideally situated in the historic fishing port of Looe, with many pubs, cafés and restaurants. A few minutes walk takes you to Hannafore where you can play tennis, bowling or have fun on the putting greens, whilst enjoying the superb views from this part of Looe looking out across the bay to Rame Head and over to Looe Island. A short walk or a ferry ride across the river takes you to East Looe and onto the sandy town beach with Banjo Pier and boat trips to Looe Island, sea fishing trips and sightseeing along the rugged coastline. A stroll around the narrow streets is a delightful way to spend a lazy day exploring the friendly charms of this quaint fishing town including Looe town museum situated in the medieval Guildhall which gives an historic glimpse into the town’s past.
Looe is home to its own music festival held during September which attracts many well-known musicians and provides a family atmosphere throughout the whole town. Early May sees the Festival of the Sea focusing on cooking demos with freshly caught seafood available on the harbour side. In November is Looe‘s own literary festival and at New Year the town celebrates with fancy dress and spectacular fireworks from the pier. Looe is an ideal base for walkers to explore the South Cornwall coastal path east to Rame Head and Plymouth, or west to Polperro and Fowey. Fowey is home to its own royal sailing club and annual regatta (August), and the literary festival celebrating the town’s most famous daughter Daphne Du Maurier. Polperro is an unspoilt picturesque fishing village, and a peaceful stroll to one of the harbour side pubs will transport you back to a different era. Looe is also perfectly situated to explore east Cornwall and a short drive to the north will bring you to Bodmin Moor, home to Jamaica Inn. There are many National Trust houses and gardens nearby such as Lanhydrock, Cotehele, Mount Edgcombe Estate and Antony House, which was the film set for Tim Burton’s film Alice in Wonderland. The Eden Project and the Lost Gardens of Heligan near Megavissey are also easily reached and are both essential destinations for all visitors to Cornwall. Sailing, golf, fishing, horse riding, coastal walks and cycling are all available locally. Beach 200 yards. Shop 40 yards, pub 50 yards and restaurant 100 yards.

All on ground floor: Living/dining room/kitchen with beams and slate floors. Utility room. 1 double bedroom with beams and slate floor. Shower room with heated towel rail and toilet.

Electric heaters, electricity, bed linen and towels included. 23" Freeview TV. DVD. iPod dock. Electric cooker. Microwave. Washing machine. Fridge. Freezer. Wi-Fi. Small shared courtyard garden. Sitting-out area and furniture. On road parking; car park 550 yards (permit at cost). Welcome pack. No smoking.

Prynces Cottage was simply lovely - great location and a friendly welcome from the owners and the people of Looe. Going out of season was a good choice as I suspect the town would be really busy during summer months. The cottage was very well equipped and comfortable enough for two people though we found the hot water supply inadequate, especially to the bathroom. The level of cleanliness was first rate and all the equipment and fittings were of a very high standard. Thank you Steve and Gabrielle, would had a wonderful break in Cornwall and would be delighted to return in the future. Roger and Lynn, Shropshire.

Response on behalf of the owner; Thank you for your kind comments. We wish you had told us about the water heater at the time and we would happily have checked it - the heater was new only a few months ago and after checking it again we found the temperature adjustment had changed to a lower heat setting. A quick adjustment corrected the setting and its now as it should be.

My husband and enjoyed our stay at Prynces Cottage. It was well equipped and very clean. The location was good - close to the harbour but no views from the window.

Lovely cottage which was spotlessly clean and had all the equipment you would need. The cottage is in a perfect location in the centre of Looe with all the shops and restaurants within easy walking distance. Whilst there was no private parking this wasn't a problem as we always managed to park for free up a quiet road which was about a 5 - 10 minute walk.

We had a lovely holiday based in Looe and also visited some other places in the area. The cottage was very close to the harbour and town centre. We particularly enjoyed walks in the evening along the sea front at Looe and out onto the Banjo Pier watching the birds and wildlife. The weather was kind and we ate out on the harbourside most evenings.

Nice cottage.. well equipped. . Slightly spoilt by poor outside space & lack of convenient parking..... but great adjacent bus service Helpful owners ... would recommend .

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; We are happy you liked the cottage. Thank you for your kind comments. As you say, the bus stops conveniently about 50 metres away on the harbourside. Unlike some other Cornish holiday destinations, Looe is also blessed with harbourside pay and display parking, which is only about 35 metres level walk from the cottage. About 5-10 minutes walk is the main Mill Pool pay car park, again level access. Or to the south past the church is free roadside parking at Hannafore with some of the best views in south east Cornwall across to Looe Island and Rame Head and a leisurely 5-10 minute walk back with great views of Looe itself.
