We found the lounge and hallway dark and dingy. The cleanliness could be much better, inside and outside. The freezer compartment in the fridge didn't freeze. The TV is only a 20" model which by todays standard, is not acceptable. It is located in a recess beside the fireplace on a shelf about 45 cms off the floor and was very difficult to watch from the location's of the sofas. The whole layout of the lounge in relationship to the T.V just does not work. We found the bed uncomfortable and the duvet and pillows were of a very poor quality. In the bath room the cabinet was too small and there is a need for some shelving too. In the shower cubical the sealant is black (either dirty and mouldy) as is some of the grouting. Studley is a great place to stay being close to many attractions but we will not stay at Priory Cottage again. In our view the cottage is no way a 4 star property.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; Thank you for your review, but it is by far the worst we have had in 14 years. Priory Cottage is regularly inspected by the letting agents and always praised for its cleanliness. The lounge is not dingy, having wall lights with 8 bulbs (controlled by dimmer switches) and 2 table lamps. The fridge has a small compartment suitable for keeping already frozen food frozen. The cottage details state clients are welcome to use the owners' freezer if needed. In addition to the cabinet, the bathroom already has shelving at the side of the washbasin. The bed has never before been described as uncomfortable. We accept the duvet and pillows are due for replacement and these have already been purchased. We accept the TV is small and had already planned to replace it this winter with a larger wall mounted model. The shower cubicle sealant is not dirty / mouldy and small areas where the grouting between tiles had come out (and looked black) have been re-grouted. We were disappointed by this review as we usually have had positive comments in the visitor’s book and in reviews. We also have a number of regular clients who return to the cottage annually.

It was a lovely quiet place although only a few yards from the main village. The family who owned the cottage were very welcoming and extremely nice but didn't bother us at all. There were plenty of up to date leaflets in the cottage. Altogether it was a lovely place in a very tranquil spot and we had a great week.
