Charming family accommodation, close to an extensive network of footpaths, stately homes and racecourses.

This charming, detached 16th-century cottage is steeped in character, boasting stunning beamwork, huge inglenooks with open fires, part wood/part flagstone floor and Victorian-style bathroom. Overlooking open countryside to the rear, Pound Cottage has its own large, well screened garden and terrace - ideal for barbecues - as well as an enclosed kitchen garden. Situated on the edge of the picturesque village of Kirdford, it is less than five minutes’ walk to the popular pubs, serving good food. The property has nearby access to an extensive network of footpaths, leading to this unspoilt part of the low weald, a haven for birds and wildlife.
The quaint town of Petworth is 4 miles away, with its plentiful antique shops, beautiful stately home and Capability Brown park, where live music concerts and outdoor theatre can be enjoyed during the summer months. The charming small town of Midhurst, famous for Polo at Cowdray Park is also a short drive, as are Billingshurst, Haslemere and Guildford. Goodwood, with its motor and horse racing, Fontwell races, Leonardslee, West Dean Gardens, Parham House, The Weald and Downbland open air museum and the South Downs are all within easy driving distance. Chichester has an ancient cathedral, tea rooms, extensive shopping, festival theatre and harbour tours, or alternatively Arundel also has a castle and Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust. A beautiful property with plenty of garden space and one enclosed garden to keep little ones safe. The cottage is full of character and there was plenty of space for the 9 of us. In a perfect world we could have done with one extra shower but managed with the 2 bathrooms in the cottage.

Excellent place for our wedding venue for the wedding in Kirdford parish church. Proved ideal for welcoming family & friends, and for the bride to prepare herself. Delightfully clean and tidy, with very evocative beams and interior. Quite difficult to find if you don't follow the instructions - the postal code sat nav doesn't take you there. This was great in the summer time, but would likely be cold and hard floored in winter. Absolutely perfect for what we wanted - many many thanks.

    Response from: Administrator

Response on behalf of the Owner; Thank you for your feedback, I'm glad you found the cottage 'perfect' for your special weekend. We are always happy to provide additional directions to guests who require them. This is the first time we have been made aware that a sat nav has failed to find the cottage so we apologise if it proved difficult to find. The cottage certainly does have a different feel to it in the winter; most guests find it warm and cosy with the wood floors adding to the general atmosphere. Hopefully you may book with us again and come and see for yourself.

Charming old property - kitchen well equipped and plenty of room around the table for all of us. Good to have two seating spaces and two televisions for schedule clashes. Beds comfortable. Bathrooms clean and loads of hot water even when house full.
