Potts Farm Oast offers guests a unique opportunity to stay in a spacious twin round kiln oast house with access to footpaths across the fields.

Potts Farm Oast offers guests a unique opportunity to stay in a spacious twin round kiln oast house surrounded by grassland farms with access to footpaths across the fields. Once used for drying fresh hops before they were sent to the brewers to flavour the beer, it has now been thoughtfully restored and makes an ideal holiday destination for two families, an extended family or groups of friends to enjoy the beautiful Kentish countryside and discover why it holds the title of ‘The Garden of England’. Stroll through the fields and picnic in the garden in the summer or take a brisk walk in winter and then return to curl up in front of the inviting wood-burning stove. To keep guests amused, there is a games room/snug in the roundel with board games and puzzles, and outside there is an enclosed lawned garden beside the oast with children’s play equipment and an open-fronted barn. If time permits, explore Tenterden – aptly described as ‘The Jewel of the Weald’ with its weatherboarded tea shops and cottages. Take a magical ride on the Kent and East Sussex Steam Railway to the medieval moated castle at Bodiam. Sample the local award-winning wines at Chapel Down Winery, visit Sissinghurst Castle Gardens (National Trust) created by the novelist - Vita Sackville west and Sir Harold Nicolson in the 1930s. Rye is a 30-minute drive. Beaches and sand dunes at Camber Sands are a 40-minute drive. Shop, pub and restaurant 11/2 miles.

This property has loads of character and charm. It could do with another bathroom. Be aware of small steps and different levels particularly for the elderly. Loved it and would go back in an instant.

It was a beautiful holiday with our family (8 persons). House and equipment are best, after breakfast we started visiting several garden places. After that we relaxed at home with dinner, some games, and some special english beer and wine.

Spacious house, well-located on the outskirts of Tenkterden which is a perfect location for us as we have family in the local area. House was nicely decorated. Kitchen was reasonably well-equipped although needed more glasses, mugs and plates. We appreciated the extra oven and fridge in the second kitchen. Lighting in the lounge areas, dining area and bedrooms needs improvement - we found it difficult to see at times in the afternoons. The selection of toys was appreciated. We found it difficult to regulate the heating - either boiling hot or chilly (we stayed during Christmas week). House needs more external rubbish bins as not enough for a house of 10 given the fortnightly collections. Liked the power showers in the bathrooms.
