Potters Wheel is an end of terrace cottage, totally refurbished by its owner to provide excellent facilities to ensure a most enjoyable and unforgettable holiday. Leaded windows, a wall formed out of rock, and beams are a reminder of the property’s antiquity and, combined with modern facilities such as a fitted bathroom and top of the range kitchen, the cottage now has a successful mix of ancient and modern - and all within a stones throw of Coniston Water!

The location is lovely and the cottage very cosy. On arrival is was very clean. To get to the lake, you have to go down some steps and a little unmade path so not easy if you have mobility problems. The spiral staircase to the upstairs bedroom is very tight and steep so again, unsuitable for anyone with mobility issues. What completely ruined our stay was that the shower does not function properly. There were comments in the visitors book going back 18 months about this! The shower attachment on the bath taps was no better resulting in very cold water to very hot for no apparent reason. The adjoining cottage has two showers which both worked perfectly so I don't see it being a water pressure problem. Overall, sweet place but the shower problems mean we would never go back.

A welcoming cottage in a fantastic location. We used the ground floor bedroom as we felt the spiral stairs leading to the bedroom was steeper than expected. A shame as it is a really nice bedroom. The garden area to the rear is not fenced in so if you take your pet it needs to be kept tethered. Carole, Sean & Sky Bleu

Amazing location and surroundings. The access to the lakeside really elevates this place to something special. Lovely cottage

We had a great week away and the cottage was one of the best we have stayed at over the 25 years we have booked UK holidays. However, the main road which you couldn't see or hear was unsuitable to walk or run on due to the speed limit of 60 mph and there was no footpath to use. This obviously isn't the fault of the cottage but the location which apart from this one point was perfect. There was a distinct lack of parking as the cottage next doorwas occupied and had 3 cars (including a Range Rover) and you couldn't park directly outside the cottage so parking was a little tight.
