outstanding place, we went at xmas and the weather was terrible with floods and ice which made the roads leading up to the cottage quite trecherous so when i go back (which i will defintely go back ) it will be in the summer when i can appreciate the stunning surroundings, the owners have thought of everything, however, for the cold nights a dvd would have been great to have but overall absolutely stunning property and would recommend to everyone

The cottage itself exceeded all expectations, there was every amenity you would ever require, very home from home feeling. The owners were very pleasant, Hylda made us feel very welcome. Even going beyond the call of dutie, as we forgot something at the cottage on departure, and she arranged us getting the item back, which we were very appreciative of. Only constructive criticism was the garden, as the cottage is semi-detached with the owners next door, the complete front & rear garden is not sectioned off & the owners dogs were allowed to run free (nearly sneaking into a door which was left ajar). Would certainly not feel comfortable to leave our young children in the garden by there own. Otherwise a great (very remote) cottage which we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Just returned from the most relaxing and chilled out holiday. Poppy's cottage is set in an absolutely peaceful and beautiful valley. The views are spectacular - ever changing with the different times of the day. The spacious cottage is superbly equipped and very comfortable. It was lovely to be able to light the log-burner on a night because it just added to the atmosphere of the cottage. It is a credit to the owners on their attention to detail - it really was a home from home and we wanted for nothing. The cottage is about 4 miles from the nearest village along a single track road that has passing places. It really is so peacefully isolated - the only disturbance whilst we were there was the water gurgling along the small river in the valley, the baaing of the sheep roaming free and the twittering of the birds - I could live with that sort of "disturbance" every day. As the cottage is in an area of Northumbria that is classed as Dark Sky - the stars at night were wonderful - so spectacularly clear - I have never seen so many - absolutely breathtaking. There is a comprehensive information book available so that visitors can have an idea where to go and what to see in the Northumbria area - which was very helpful. We were surprised to find out that the cottage is near the Otterburn artillery range. However, although we saw the red flags flying warning it was being used we were never disturbed at all by it. In fact, it was only on the final full day of our holiday when two helicopters flew past that we had any intimation of the range being in use. No problem or disturbance at all. All in all, we would highly recommend this beautifully situated and well-equipped cottage. The very welcoming owners are in the cottage next door and whilst they are available should any problems arise, they are not intrusive at all. Lovely people.
