Description

Delightful detached cottage, with beams, wood burning stove and enclosed garden, in medieval Lavenham with Tudor Guildhall, Kersey nearby.

A delightful, 15th-century, Grade II listed, detached holiday cottage (original part was built as a timber-framed open hall house for weavers). The cottage, secluded in the heart of picturesque, medieval Lavenham (famous NT Tudor Guildhall, restaurants, pubs, tearooms, antique shops and galleries), has been restored and furnished to a high standard - benefits from period features, off-street parking and a lovely, walled sunny garden. Nearby are ‘Constable Country’, beautiful old villages (Long Melford, Clare, Kersey), open countryside, Colchester (castle, zoo, cobbled streets), Suffolk Heritage Coast, good train links (Sudbury 7 miles) and walking/cycling routes. Shop 50 yards.

Beamed living room with wood-burning stove, rugs on oak floor (low doorways and step down). Conservatory/dining room. Kitchen. Beamed double bedroom. Bathroom, over-bath shower, toilet. First floor: Beams throughout. Double bedroom, rugs on wooden floor. Twin bedroom (for +2). Separate toilet.

Gorgeous cottage, very comfortable and had everything we needed. The location was fantastic with plenty of places to eat within walking distance and the surrounding area was very pretty. We will definitely return!!!

Beautiful cottage in a fabulous location. I'd taken my elderly parents and one of their friends for a break, we all loved it. I would certainly recommend to anybody. My only grievance is it's quite expensive when you can't get in until 3pm and have to leave at 10am. A 3 day stay is infact only 2 days which makes it rather expensive. I'm not familiar with the norm for holiday lets so this might be the norm. It was hard getting the oldies up and out and ready for 10am on a Sunday morning!! Thank you for a fab stay. I would come back again.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; The norm for holiday cottages is arrival after 4pm and departure before 10am. The purpose is to allow sufficient cleaning time, to ensure that the cottage is prepared to a high standard for arrival of the next guest. This is also stated within the booking conditions so guests are aware prior to booking. We aim to keep this time to a minimum, but take pride in the quality and cleanliness of Poppy Cottage. Our standard arrival time is 3pm but, if requested in advance, we may also be able to make arrangements for an earlier arrival and/or later departure.
