Welsh Country Cottages

An inspiring collection of properties chosen for their character, luxury and heritage, all graded 4 star and above..

Here you’ll find wildlife, waterfalls, walks in the grounds and Shetland ponies on site, as well as a half mile stretch of fly-fishing available.

"Magical secluded estate with spectacular views. . . the best of Wales – sandy beaches, lofty peaks and ancient castles . . ."

Just six miles from a sandy beach, these four delightful, comfortable properties peacefully lie in the heart of 108 acres of wild flower-strewn meadows and woodland in a superb valley near the mountains of Snowdonia. There is a wealth of wildlife including red kites, buzzards and owls. The properties have been renovated and tastefully furnished to a very high standard. Two of the properties have their own well-planted secure gardens, whilst the others share a beautiful Mediterranean-style courtyard garden. Visitors can enjoy superb walks through the grounds and surrounding countryside. A river with dramatic waterfalls runs through the estate a quarter of a mile away, offering the chance of a swim in the natural pool below the falls, and a one and a half mile stretch of fly fishing. Visit the owners’ stud of miniature Shetland ponies, including the delightful foals. All properties are cosily heated throughout, making them ideal for holidays at any time of the year.

There is a superb selection of restaurants and pubs locally, including Castell Deuraeth, which offers outstanding food and service in a superb setting. Village shop and Post Office in Llan Ffestiniog and several supermarkets in Porthmadog. Five miles away lies the fascinating Portmeirion, with its warm-coloured, romantic, Italianate buildings and exotic plants. Porthmadog (8 miles) is the gateway to the Lleyn Peninsula, one of Wales’ five Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with dramatic cliffs, sandy beaches and popular resorts. Within a short drive are the Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland light railways. Harlech has the acclaimed Royal Saint David’s golf course, one of Britain’s most impressive castles and miles of most wonderful sandy beaches. Wide range of tourist attractions for all ages in easy reach. Sea fishing, quad biking, white-water rafting and horse riding locally. Shop ½ mile.

Ideal for a special occasion The Manor House (JAV), The Cottage (JAW), The Granary (OFG) and The Stables (OHN) can be booked together to accomodate up to 25 guests.

With superb views towards the Moelwyn Mountains, this detached 18th-century renovated cottage has its own large secure garden leading to fields and woodland beyond. Large farmhouse-style kitchen with dining area. Cloakroom with toilet. Oak-beamed living room with wood-burning stove in lovely inglenook fireplace flanked by a splendid old stone spiral staircase. Lovely cottage and location with comfortable beds and easy access to sea and mountains and interesting owners but - the house was far too expensive for the quality of furnishings . Everything needed updating, painting , the sofas were uncomfortable , chairs in the kitchen were broken, more detailed cleaning would have been good. We also had a power cut whilst there which was totally out of the owners’ control but we had to seek information, assistance, candles etc . It would have been nice if they had been more proactive. Overall we had a lovely holiday but for the reasons listed would not rebook at this price.

The cottage was lovely and well appointed. We were looked after very well by the owners and it was a great base for a stay. We have a toddler and he loved the ponies on site.

What a beautiful, character cottage - probably best we have ever rented. Good central location for all the attractions of Snowdonia. The secluded cottage was very spacious and comfortable. The owners have put so much care and thought into equipping and furnishing the property to a high standard. So many interesting touches and very comfortable. The garden has lovely views of mountains and countryside. Would highly recommend.

The cottage is set in a rural location but ideal for a quiet 'get away' holiday and suitably situated for touring Snowdonia. Porthmadog is about 8 miles away, so you are able to stock up on food and wine. This is one of the best cottages we have stayed in which was tastefully furnished. The owners made us feel welcome and were there on hand with any questions we had about the area. We will look forward to a return visit in the not to distant future.

Excellent welcome by the hosts, with a bottle of wine and some herbs. Also a fruit bowl supplied which is nice. After welcome left in peace. Very lovely property and hosts.

From the moment we arrived everything was perfect, we were even greeted with a bottle of complementary wine. The cottage was perfect 3 lovely bedrooms 2 bathrooms and I loved sitting at the kitchen table next to the warm boiler on those cold April morning till the sun took a hold and we were out in the walled garden over looking snowy caped hills on the other valley (fantastic) then to make up the wood burner in the cosy living room ready to enjoy a family gathering . I really cant thank you enough your cottage was everything we needed for a fabulous family holiday
