Description

Offering ground floor accommodation for two, with its own private garden area as well as access to 12-acres of gardens and orchards.

Sunnymead Cottages (ref PGZ and PHA) are situated in the High Weald village of High Hurstwood, a designated AONB. Set in a landscape of undulating pastures, they provide a peaceful retreat. Converted to a very high standard and adjoining one another; Pippins provides ground floor accommodation and Russets has ground and first floor accommodation. They lie at the end of 220 yards of private drive, amid 12 acres of gardens and orchards in the grounds of the owners’ house. The grounds are a haven for wildlife; birds, deer and badgers are regular visitors. Each cottage has its own garden area in which to sit out and unwind. The nearby Bluebell Steam Railway makes frequent journeys from Sheffield Park, with its period railway station. A great day out can also be enjoyed in Ashdown Forest, under two miles away and a refuge for wildlife. It offers opportunities for walking, riding and picnics. If guests do not feel like taking the car out, there is direct access onto a public footpath just outside the garden and the Vanguard Way is only 10 minutes’ walk away. Local wines can be sampled at various vineyards in the vicinity. There is easy access to historic houses including Glyndebourne Opera House, the spa town Tunbridge Wells and 1066 country. There is also much to see along the coast where shops, bars and restaurants beckon in Brighton and Eastbourne. The nearest railway station is only 6 minutes’ drive with direct access to London in just over one hour. Shop 2 miles, pub serving good food just a 5-minute walk.

Living/dining room with step up to separate kitchen with door to courtyard garden. Twin bedroom with 6ft zip & link bed, TV and patio door, en-suite bathroom with over-bath shower and toilet.

We have stayed at this property four times now. The property is first class, clean, comfortable and well equipped. The owners are very friendly and helpful, whilst letting you enjoy your holiday in the peace and quiet of the perfect setting. The area is great for walkers, and The Bluebell Railway is just a short drive away.

Lovely cottage, very cosy and comfortable. Quiet and peaceful location. Only real problem was no phone signal and Internet very intermittent.

Excellent ,we absolutely loved the place, so much so that we didn't want to leave. Could not fault this cottage in any way and would highly recommend to everyone.

We nearly didn't book this cottage as the photo makes it look a bit like a council house. However I'm so pleased we did. It's a really pretty converted farm cottage with lovely wooden shutters and surrounded by climbing roses. We had Pippins which is the ground floor half of the house. It is so well organised that we were completely unaware of our neighbours upstairs. And we had the advantage of a little garden to have our breakfast in. Inside was beautifully equipped and very comfortable. It is tucked away down several narrow twisty lanes but surprisingly convenient for exploring Sussex. We loved it and have no doubt we will return.
