A Grade II listed character cottage for two, tucked in the heart of the fishing village of Staithes.

At the bottom of the steep cobbled bank in the heart of the quaint fishing village of Staithes is this Grade II listed terraced character cottage. Step back in time as you wander the ginnels and alleyways where traditional cottages cling to the cliff edge. Staithes nestles deep in the valley on the edge of the North Yorkshire Moors and is an ideal holiday base from which to explore both the Moors and the East Yorkshire Coast. The Victorian seaside town of Saltburn to the north is just 8 miles with Whitby 12 miles to the south. Cliff top walks and access to the Cleveland Way afford breathtaking views across the coastline. Shop and restaurant 150 yards, beach and pub 50 yards.

Ground floor: Living/dining room with wooden floor. Kitchen with tiled floor. Beams throughout. First floor: 1 double bedroom with beams. Bathroom with toilet.

Electric woodburner in living room included. Economy 7 central heating, electricity, bed linen and towels included. Freeview TV (limited signal). DVD. Electric cooker. Public car park (permit provided).

lovely quaint cottage close to local beaches and the beautiful moors. Cosy and warm with everything you need, Not suitable for those who struggle with steep hills though. Staithes is such a lovely place to stay.

Fantastic long weekend. The location was great and really loved the cottage. The only negative is the need to have a shower installed in the property.

The cottage was lovely and had lots of really great touches- it was cosy and perfectly placed for exploring the cobbled fishing village of Staithes and the wider Yorkshire coast. A good supply of kitchen equipment (including foil/ freezer bags), Books, dvds, board games, and a realm of information on getting the best from the surrounding area. It was a last minute booking and then I read a number of poor reviews after and was dreading it. The dreadful pictures of the cottage added to that fear and as I drove up to Staithes I was writing my own bad review. But those fears evaporated as I stepped over the threshold. We loved every minute of our stay. OK... That said.... There are things that some guests may have issues with. 1) parking is at the top of the village- which requires a particularly steep walk of approximately a third of a mile. So if you have mobility issues then you'll face some difficulties. 2) the cottage is small - meaning low doorways, tiny bath, and somewhat uncomfortable furniture in the living room (although the sofa did convert into a bed). 3) whilst the cottage was clean (and the bed was super comfy)- the kitchen could do with a deep clean. Cutlery etc needed a wash. Although I blame other guests and not the owner of the cottage. 4) finally the booking confirmation email gave too detailed and ultimately poor directions to the cottage. I'd simply say get to the 'cod & lobster' pub and go up the steps into high barrass.

Loved the cottage so cosy especially in the evening near the coast.

Lovely little cottage in a beautiful place - would definitely go again. Convenient location for exploring the East Coast. The local pubs all do good food at reasonable prices (2 pubs on the doorstep and another a short walk up the hill). Only thing stopping me giving it a 10 was the lack of a shower - the bath was fine but quite small. Also beware of low door frames - my husband took a few knocks to the head until he got used to ducking them!
