Former coach house modernised to create a well-equipped retreat for four, an ideal base to explore the Lakes and Dales.

Set in the delightful Eden Valley, this charming 18th century single storey holiday home was formerly the coach house and has been renovated to provide a contemporary, well furnished cottage. Standing in a quiet village location adjoining the owner’s home, the cottage has a pretty sitting-out area which attracts bird life. The village is just 3 miles from the historic and picturesque market town of Appleby, which has a good selection of shops, inns and restaurants. The Eden Valley area is popular for walking, cycling, pony trekking, golf and birdwatching. The Lake District and Yorkshire Dales are within easy reach. The local pub is situated just 400 yards away. An equestrian centre (horse riding) 2 miles. Golf 4 miles. Shop 3 miles, pub 1½ miles.

All on ground floor: Living room with French doors/dining room/kitchen. 2 bedrooms: 1 double with en-suite bathroom with shower attachment and toilet, 1 twin. Shower room with toilet.

Woodburner in living room (initial fuel included). Gas central heating, electricity, bed linen and towels included. DVD. Electric cooker. Microwave. Washing machine. Tumble dryer. Dishwasher. Fridge/freezer. Patio with sitting-out area and furniture. Private parking for 2 cars. No smoking.

great cottage. very clean and comfortable and well equipped. owners are very helpful and pleasant. only one thing to improve in the outside sitting area and that is there are bird feeders hence loads of bird poo on the tables and chairs and patio area daily.

Kitchen well provided. Good sitting area. Always good to have parking area. Lucky the pub was operating, I understand it had been a bit "on and off".

Pheasant Lodge is perfect for a quiet family holiday and the owner makes every effort to make you welcome; including delicious homemade muffins on arrival. The sitting room could be made more comfortable with a change round of the sofas but watching TV isn't the main focus of a holiday and if the weather is clement, there is garden furniture just outside the patio doors. We will always remember the close-up views of the nuthatches, woodpeckers and a myriad of other birds on the feeders and the little frog that made its way indoors. The beds are very comfortable too and the bathrooms are really nice (I was worried that there are no pictures of these on the website). We would certainly go again.
