Description

Within easy reach of one of the top 10 mountain bike rides in the world at Afan Argoed Forestry Park.

Peacefully set in 2 acres of lawned gardens, these four beautifully furnished and extremely well-equipped holiday cottages enjoy excellent walks straight from the back door. Sunny Croft (ref JVZ) and Penny Croft (ref JSM) adjoin one another and boast superb views from their elevated position, whilst Meadow Croft (ref OMY) is attached to the owner’s 17th-century home and Abbots Croft (ref OL8). Each cottage has a plasma TV, a mini CD player and its own terrace with beautiful views.
This is an area with lots of character, with hills that beckon the walker. For cyclists, the Afan Argoed Forestry Park, rated in the top ten in the world for mountain bike rides, is within easy reach. Spectacular drives over the inter-valley roads give amazing views, while the rich, rolling land of the Vale of Glamorgan offers many castles, interesting churches and manor houses to explore. The nearest sandy beaches are 12 miles, and the Gower Peninsula, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty famous for its beaches, magnificent coastal scenery and rich birdlife, is easily accessible.
Caerphilly is easily accessible and is famous for its magnificent castle and the crumbly white cheese which is widely available throughout the town. The capital, Cardiff, is well worth the visit and is an easy and compact city to navigate, with the River Taff flowing through the heart of the city. The Millennium Stadium sits happily alongside much older buildings including the castle which gives the city a vibrant and cosmoplitan feel to it. Tennis, riding, fishing and golf nearby. Multi-screen cinema, restaurants and shopping complex 3 miles. Village shop/P.O. 2 miles, pub serving home-cooked food (prebooking advisable), 100 yards.

Spacious living/dining room with electric ‘log-effect’ fire and stable door to patio with super views. Modern, well-fitted kitchen with peninsular unit separating large dining area. Twin bedroom. Separate toilet. First floor: Double bedroom. Bathroom with over-bath shower and toilet.

Enjoyed our time there. Nice old fashioned cottage with modern amenities. Lovely patio and garden to sit out. Easy access to Brecon Beacons and the M4. Comfy bed although a bit on the small side. Good cooker, washing machine, dishwasher, etc but no vacuum cleaner.

Wonderful secluded property, spotlessly clean. Lovely friendly hosts. I can absolutely understand why people return here again and again. Idyllic.
