This holiday property sits within the Hafod Forestry Commission Estate, which occupies about 500 acres of the Ystwyth Valley.

This wonderful example of a detached, single-storey converted barn, adjacent to the owner’s home, dates back to circa 1810, and sits within the Hafod Forestry Commission Estate, which is a picturesque landscape occupying about 500 acres of the Ystwyth Valley and surrounding hills, some 15 miles inland from the Ceredigion coastline. Lovingly converted by the craftsman owner, Pendre Isa is an extremely spacious and beautifully furnished property for two people, boasting its own private decked terrace from where you can relax and enjoy the views and watch the red kites and buzzards circling overhead. From the doorstep of the barn, the estate can be explored on foot (maps are available for the five way-marked walks of varying length and difficulty) where there are streams, waterfalls and rustic bridges to discover. It provides an excellent base for exploring and taking part in activities such as canoeing, mountain biking, horse riding and walking, or just relaxing in a ‘get away from it all’ location. Nearby attractions include Devils Bridge, first built by monks in the 11th century and from where you can take the Vale of Rheidol steam train that meanders through the valley to the seaside town of Aberystwyth, the Silver Mountain Experience, an 18th-century silver-rich lead mine, and the Magic of Life Butterfly House. A 30-minute drive will bring you to the attractive coastline and all that it has to offer. An ideal holiday base. Shop and pub serving food 2 miles, restaurant 4 miles.

All on ground floor: Living room with French doors and wooden floor/dining room with wooden floor/kitchen with tiled floor. 1 double (6ft zip and link, can be twin on request) bedroom with en-suite bathroom with shower over bath, toilet and Velux. Beams throughout.

A beautiful relaxing retreat from the stresses of modern life. Well equipped, comfortable and with fabulous views and walks very close by. The track down to the cottage is rough and not suitable for low suspension! Owners very friendly and helpful but leave you alone. Wildlife right outside the windows. Waterfall everywhere you turn. Not many places open especially pubs at lunchtime but we did go in November. Would visit again.

Great cottage, very well equipped in a brilliant location. Could do with a heater in the bathroom.

Lovely location.Cottage very warm and cosy . Couldnt fault it . Would love to return again next year. The birds and squirrels coming to feed on the decking were more entertaining than the tv.

The little touches made a difference. Very welcoming, everything we needed and some nice extras we weren't expecting.

We thoroughly enjoyed our break away at Pendre Isaf. The cottage is lovely - well equipped, nicely decorated and overlooking the valley. We took our rescue dog, who had the time of his life on all the walks around the Hafod estate. The scenery is beautiful, especially the rivers and waterfalls. We would recommend the food at The Farmers Arms and a trip to Devil's Bridge. Although Pendre Isaf is a very long way from where we live, we hope to return at some point in the future.

This is a beautiful, well equipped "away from it all" cottage. The cottage is warm and spacious with beautiful views across the valley, plenty of wildlife to watch from the decking area and magnificent walks from the door - and it is very dog friendly ! We thoroughly enjoyed our week here and the owners who live in an adjacent cottage couldn't have been more helpful and welcoming. If mobile phone signal and ease of internet access are your thing this probably isn't t the place for you but for lovers of walking in beautiful surroundings, or just being in beautiful surroundings, you would go a long way to beat Pendre Isaf.
