Welcome Cottages

A carefully curated collection of properties that offer high quality, good value accommodation in great locations across the UK, Ireland, France and Italy

Situated in a beautiful location, Pebble Cottage has been lovingly presented to provide bright and homely accommodation near to Chickerell.

Located in a charming and secluded environment on the Jurassic and Heritage coastline, Coastline Cottages have been converted to a high specification and are well-equipped with lovely woodburners. Situated 100 yards off the main road, the cottages are set in a quiet location, each with its own patio area and communal garden, within easy walking distance of Chickerell. The lovely Victorian seaside town of Weymouth is a few miles along the coast, where children can enjoy the sandy beach. A day trip to France or the Channel Islands and even a sea fishing trip can be enjoyed, all leaving from the harbour. The RSPB has two reserves nearby - Lodmoor and Radipole Lake, the latter having an information centre as well as nature trails where grebes, swans, warblers and other species of birds may be seen. The swannery at Abbotsbury provides the opportunity to observe the resident colony of mute swans, which has been in existence since the 14th century. From late May, visitors can walk around the nesting area, observing the cygnets at close quarters. Another attraction at Abbotsbury are the sub-tropical gardens, which flourish in a site protected from the cold winds. Here species rare to Britain - such as Japanese camellias and Caucasian Wing Nut tree - can be found. A drive west from the cottages along the coast road is a delight, where the outstanding views and ‘chocolate-box’ villages can be admired. Horse riding, golf and fishing available locally. Shops ¼ mile.

The cottage is easy to find and beautifully spacious and well presented; it is comfortable and made a lovely base for our stay. Possible long-term rental of the property next door did impact on our access to parking occasionally, and the somewhat tired appearance of the communal areas (we noticed that the commercial bin is actually full of business waste from a van that is parked nightly at the neighbouring cottage, so it was a struggle to fit the bin from our stay into the shared bin). A lack of information about rubbish/recycling and cottage facilities meant we were a little uncertain of what to do as regards routines, but contact with the owners by text was good. The only thing that might prevent another stay was the lack of safe walks and dog walks close by; the public footpath opposite is quite poorly maintained and involves going down the side of a garage and through rubbish, and there is no safe footpath to walk along what is a really busy road to get to other public paths.

Pebble cottage was superb. We stayed over the Christmas period and we wanted for nothing. We even had a Christmas tree decorated for our arrival. The layout was perfect. A wonderful kitchen area, really well equipped, ensured that no one was left out. There was plenty of seating and the woodburner was a lovely addition. We used it daily. The bedrooms were also lovely. 2 single beds in one room with a family bathroom next door. The master bedroom had an ensuite and was very comfortable. An additional downstairs toilet was a fabulous bonus. The fenced garden area was perfect for our two golden retrievers. We would certainly come again

The cottage is lovely. Just as described in brochure. Very tastefully decorated and comfortable and quiet. However, we are very keen walkers and prefer, once we have arrived at our destination, not to use the car every day. Unfortunately, to access the coastal paths in the area we had to negotiate a narrow busy road without a footpath for a while before reaching the lane to the footpaths. I know most people use their cars every day and we are probably unusual in this respect. What would have been ideal was a negotiated private footpath to a footpath or the local authority installing a pavement(unlikely I know.)

Pebble cottage was better than expected - we felt the description & photos. didn't do it credit.
